Alan Wojcik Reviews RF Shoot with the Outlaws

“Oh you didn’t know, you’re ass better call somebody!!!” That was the battle cry for arguably the most popular WWE tag team of the late 90’s the New Age Outlaws (Road Dogg and Billy Gunn.) They were so over with the fans D-Generation X decided to have them join when Shawn Michaels went to the sidelines with an injured back. But things in the WWE didn’t go well for the now named BG and Kip James after they joined DX. If you are like me and were a DX mark you want to get a copy of the RF Video shoot interview with the Outlaws filmed in Orlando after a TNA Impact taping.

Let me get something out of the way. There is little talk about the Billy and Chuck tag team or how Kip signed with TNA. Now for the good stuff this is an all out verbal assault on Hunter Hearst Helmsley and the WWE hierarchy he seems to now run. RF and his interview staff questions go from the day the then named WWF decided to pair them together until their reuniting in TNA. This was filmed before TNA created the Voodoo Kin Mafia but you can sense something was in the air with the venom BG and Kip use when they talk about HHH or the current product on USA Network. They break down their tag title reigns (including a hilarious trip through Atlanta’s Hartsfield airport), the WCW invasion and the hijinks on the road as BG battled drug addiction.

RF’s crew have things going at a nice pace in the interview until they bring up an interesting quote from Bret Hart that gets Kip’s blood boiling before they even get to the HHH questions. All the tag teams the Outlaws faced are talked about. From the Head Bangers and Road Warriors to the Acolytes, Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett we get some funny stories and remember what tag team wrestling was like since WWE seems to have forgotten. Also along the way we get true feelings on the rest of DX: Shawn Michaels and Sean Waltman but not much about Joanie “Chyna” Lauer. Plus the Rock, Bob Holly, Eddie Guerrero, Vince Russo, Terry Funk, Mick Foley, Steve Austin and the Undertaker are on the questioning list. Kip has feelings on the former Tough Enough TV competition that will make you laugh and cringe.

In closing this interview is only two hours long but it covers their WWE tag team career properly. There is a little talk about TNA Wrestling but you aren’t buying this DVD for that. Watch and wonder how much WWE is going to enjoy the DVD. Guess we won’t be seeing the Outlaws in the Hall of Fame anytime soon. The DVD retails for $20 and can be purchased on www.rvideo.com along with an extensive shoot library and wrestling shows that can’t be bought anywhere.
