-- Lots of music and concert news including upcoming album releases...

-- The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival kicked off on Friday with $100 one-day tickets still available. Bjork, Sonic Youth and Stephen Marley headlining the first night. You can view the festivities Saturday and Sunday at the AT&T Blue Room, here's the schedule (times are Pacific Standard Time):

-- This week Coheed and Cambria headed back to the studio to record their 4th album tentatively titled No World for Tomorrow which is due out this fall and will be produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Stone Sour). The album marks the return of bassist Michael Todd who left the band last August because of “personal reasons”. Coheed and Cambria will be headlining The Warped Tour this summer, a complete list of summer tour dates are here.

-- Marking the tenth anniversary of Princess Diana's death her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry will be holding the Concert For Diana on 7/1 (which would've been Princess Di's 46th birthday) at Wembley Stadium, performers announced so far include: Andrew Lloyd Webber, Bryan Ferry, Duran Duran, Elton John, English National Ballet, The Feeling, James Morrison, Joss Stone, Kanye West, Lily Allen, Natasha Bedingfield, Orson, Pharrell Williams, Rod Stewart, Status Quo. Tickets are sold out but hospitality packages are available here.

-- What century is this again?? Poison, Ratt and White Lion set out on the POISON'D! 2007 summer tour beginning 6/13 in Greenville, SC at the BI-LO Center concluding on 9/1 in West Palm Beach, FL at the Sound Advice Amphitheatre. Complete tour dates are on Poison's website.

-- The Virgin Festival By Virgin Mobile takes place on 8/4-8/5 at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland, two-day tickets go on sale 5/5 are $175 for General Admission and $450 for VIP available at www.ticketmaster.com or by callling 1-800-551-SEAT and one-day tickets are $97.50 for single day General Admission tickets and $250 for single day VIP tickets and go on sale 5/19.

-- Milwaukee hold its 40th Summerfest from 6/28-7/8 at the Marcus Ampitheater, performers include Def Leppard, Styx, Foreigner, The Fray, Roger Waters, John Mayer, Tool, Bon Jovi and Toby Keith. For more info go to www.summerfest.com.

-- Of all the reunions taking place this summer, the most anticipated one will be SPINAL TAP (~!!!) as they'll be on the 7/7 Live Earth concert at Wembley Stadium. Tap will be releasing a new single Warmer Than Hell and Rob Reiner debuted a film documenting Tap's return at the Tribeca Film Festival.

-- Due to Tommy Stinton's hand injury Guns N' Roses are now canceling their gigs at the MyCoke Festival in South Africa, however the group announced foreign dates that begin in June with three stops in Mexico - 6/2: Arena Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico; 6/3: VFG Arena, Guadalajara, Mexico; 6/5: City Sports Palace, Mexico City, Mexico; 6/10: Burswood, Perth, Australia; 6/13: Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Adelaide, Australia; 6/15: Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia; 6/20: Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Brisbane, Australia; 6/23: Acer Arena, Sydney, Australia; 6/29: Vector Arena, Auckland, New Zealand; 7/14: Makuhari Messe, Tokyo, Japan; 7/15: Makuhari Messe, Tokyo, Japan; 7/18: Rainbow Hall, Nagoya, Japan; 7/21: Osaka Jo-Hall, Osaka, Japan

-- My former boss, Electric Factory Concerts owner Larry Magid talks about Philadelphia venue the TLA becoming the Fillmore Philadelphia at the TLA. I personally am not in favor of this name change.

-- For the second time around Snoop Dogg is not allowed to enter a foreign country due to his criminal record. Snoop was to fly out to Sydney so he could host the MTV Australia Video Music Awards but Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews said, "He doesn't seem the sort of bloke we want in this country." Ouch.

-- Paul McCartney was ranked third on The Sunday Times' annual Rich List with a fortune worth $1.4 billion, former Zomba records label head Clive Calder topped the list being worth $2.6 billion and composer Andrew Lloyd Webber came in second with $1.5 billion to his name.

-- Bobby "Boris" Pickett, who sang the Halloween anthem "The Monster Mash" died Wednesday night from leukemia at age 69. The song debuted at number one on the Billboard charts in 1962, then came back on the charts in August 1970 and May 1973.

-- The pitbull in skirt Eve (Eve Jeffers) was arrested on DUI charges early Thurday morning after she crashed her gold Maserati into a center divider in Hollywood. Police sources claimed Eve's blood-alcohol level was double the legal limit. Eve posted $30,000 bail and was said to cover her face leaving the Los Angeles County Jail.

-- Bad Brains release their first album in over a decade, Build A Nation, 6/26 on Megaforce Records and features the original line-up: HR, Darryl Jenifer, Dr. Know and Earl Hudson.

-- Russell Simmons will be appearing at Borders [913-A Capital Centre Boulevard] in Largo, MD on Monday 4/30 at 7PM signing his new book Do You! Laws of Success: 12 Proven Steps to Achieving Happiness and Empowerment.

-- Ween are wrapping up recording their new album (produced by Andrew Weiss) to be released late summer/early fall as well as an E.P and a live DVD from 1991-92. According to the band's website: We started out with 50 or 60 demos and whittled it down to around 20 songs. We recorded the album to 24 track 2 inch tape so it sounds the way music was meant to be heard. Ween will be touring this summer beginning 4/30 at The Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville, NC, complete tour dates are here.

-- Marilyn Manson's new album Eat Me, Drink Me comes out 6/5, sample tracks can be heard on Manson's Myspace page.

-- Archives of legendary the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio shows are now available at www.concertvault.com. Complete concert downloads are $9.98 and will be encoded as unrestricted 256k mp3 files.
