Funk's Corner - What did they say? Comments from the Best in Wrestling

Eddie Graham said, "Lets give the wrestling fans more than they paid for every time out."

Gene Kiniski said (to me), "Kid, Wear a sport coat, Stay at a first class hotel and give the fans some wrestling."

Mike London (Old School Promoter in Albuquerque said, "there are only three natural sports and wrestling is one of them. You run for your life, swim for your life or you fight for your life."

Jim Crockett Sr. said, "Just remember, you are our world champion. Don't be a recruiter of wrestling talent for your father."

Don Owen said, "I have 10,000 turkeys on my farm and I can eat one turkey every day for the rest of my life so all those dishonest bastards can go screw themselves."

Fritz Von Erich said, "Listen to me kid, Don't go out there and put a bunch of wrestling holds on me." (Just prior to our 60 minute draw in Texas Stadium for the NWA World Championship).

Dory Funk Sr. said, "Dory, If you accomplish nothing else in professional wrestling you have done a Hell of a lot and I am proud of you." (In the ring in Tampa, Florida just after I won the NWA World Championship from Gene Kiniski)

Ric Flair says, "I am proud to be apart of this great sport." (On interviews in reference to professional wrestling) Whooooooooooooo!

Jim Ross refers to the "Athleticism and Credibility of the athletes in professional wrestling."

Stu Hart says, "That eh, Gordienko eh,---, Luther Lindsey er, --- Billy Robinson eh Johnny Valentine, eh ---, They all got a Hell of a set of eh, --- They got a Hell of a set of balls, don't they eh--, Your father, Dory Funk Sr. wouldn't let anyone take any privileges either would he?"

Kurt Angle said, "If Christian would have trained for amateur wrestling, he would have been an Olympic Champion." (I had the privilege of coaching both Kurt and Christian in the same Funking Dojo)

Mad Dog Vachon said, "You must love this business."

Vern Gagne said, "Kid, you have to kick the Hell out of your opponent first, then put your finishing hold on them."

Hulk Hogan said, "I just want the opportunity to show that I can draw money in my home state of Florida." (And he did draw capacity crowds when I was booking for Florida Championship Wrestling)

Sputnik Monroe said, "I'm a diamond ring and Cadillac Man and I am going to whoop you like Borden House Pie, Puke." (I still don't know what Borden House Pie is)?

Terry Funk said, "Never Quit." (Even though he is famous for the most retirement matches in professional wrestling history).

On Sunday March 25th "This Great Sport" of professional wrestling comes to the Funking Conservatory as WWE's Robert Gibson challenges Johnny Magnum for the Funking Conservatory World Championship.

There will be a three way contest for the Women's Championship between The Claw, Claudia Reiff and the "Pop Tarts," Miss Vicki and Lady Kimberly.

In a Hardcore Championship Match, Blain Rage will defend against the challenge of the US Navy's Shane Chung.

Kory Chavis will team with Lance Alonte to take on The Enforcer, Ken Sharp and Flyin' Ryan Mitchell with his Valet Little Miss Sandii Sunshine.

Tickets are $10 purchased in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets are available at Devon Self Storage in downtown Ocala, Florida or they may be purchased from our website.
