A look back at UFC Fight Night 8...

-- Another UFC Fight Night has concluded this evening from the sold-out Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. The first fight televised was Hermes Franca vs Spencer Fisher and Franca showed off his hands of stone by knocking out Fisher at 4:03 in round two. Franca then got on his knees and like GSP begged for a match for the Lightweight title, Dana enjoyed Franca swearing on live TV. Hulk and Brooke Hogan were shown, I bet there'll be a lot of angry posting on the Sherdog forums like, "what is that FAKE WRESTLER doing at a UFC event??? BLASPHEMY!!!" or some bullshit like that...

Next was a disappointing night for one Heath Herring who the UFC put some hype behind, he lost to Jake O'Brien via decision after three rounds of getting taken down numerous times by O'Brien who wasn't going to have Herring use him as a stepping stone in the UFC. During the slow moments early on there were "HOGAN" chants, yes, at a UFC show. After the fight Herring told Joe Rogan he's here to fight and be exciting, not wrestle or fight on the ground, Rogan gave him a funny look after that comment and as Dave Meltzer said in his Fight Night coverage if you don't want to fight on the ground there's a sport called kickboxing.

Before the Evans/Salmon main event fight, the Ed Herman/Chris Price dark match (on of five from earlier in the evening) was aired and Herman finally got a UFC win after slapping aan armbar on Price in 2:58 of round one.

Rashad Evans KILLED Sean Salmon with a high-kick to the side of his head "Cro Cop"-style, damn that was a highlight reel moment if I ever saw one. Salmon showed a lot of promise in a slow first round getting two takedowns on Evans. After the fight Rogan interviewed Evans who acknowledged Salmon still laid out on the canvas, that kid was SO GONE before the back of his head hit the mat.

Best moments were Franca's fists of fury at the end of his fight and Evan's massive high-kick at the end of his, everything in the middle was okay. Good to see Herman get a win, still pissed about Herring although he has time to prove himself but it's crucial he improves by his next fight.
