-- The Fight Network reported today that Gina Carano is off K-1's Dynamite USA!! show on 6/2 due to a recent intestinal illness she experienced following a two-week stay in Thailand participating in a role for the upcoming season of Fight Girls. At last weekend's WEC event at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Carano was taken to a local hospital via ambulance and treated for dehydration. Carano (4-0) was to fight Ohio native Jan Finney (3-2) who has fought in HookNShoot and King Of The Cage and has lost two fights to Carano's opponent Julie Kedzie who she fought (and beat) in February.

Bodog Fighters Give Helping Hand to Russian Orphans

For Immediate Release

May 8, 2007

A Russian orphanage in dire need of repairs will receive close to $170,000 US due in part to the fundraising efforts of Bodog Fight founder Calvin Ayre and some of the world's most famous mixed martial arts fighters.

The top-ranked heavyweight in the sport, Fedor Emelianenko, along with fellow fighters Aleksander Emelianenko, Roman Zentzov, Matt Lindland, and actor Jean Claude Van Damme autographed a pair of gloves worn during Bodog Fight's April 14th Pay-Per-View event held at the ICE Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia. Following the main event, the pair of gloves was auctioned off to the thousands of fans in attendance. The bidding started at 100,000 RUB ($3,886 US), and was eventually won by Arthur Kirilenko, who bid 3,000,000 RUB ($116,572 US).

The Lomonosovskiy Orphanage, which houses close to 100 children under four-years-old with psychological problems and deficiency of the central nervous system, will receive an additional $50,000 US from The Calvin Ayre Foundation.

"When I saw the living conditions the kids there had to endure, I knew we had to do something to help out," said Ayre, who visited the orphanage during the filming of Bodog Fight: St. Petersburg.

"Thanks to the fighters and Mr. Kirilenko, the Calvin Ayre Foundation is now able to help do this by reconstructing the old wooden building and the playground these kids have been calling home."

"We are very grateful to Mr. Ayre and these fighters for their kind generosity," said orphanage director Antonina Ivanovna Petrova. "It is comforting to know they share in our belief that these children are also worth fighting for."

The Calvin Ayre Foundation is a philanthropic organization focusing on promoting greater equity in five broad areas: Environment, Education, Social Development, Child Welfare and Animal Welfare.

“There are few men more dangerous than this Russian MMA specialist, who is 6-feet, 227 pounds,” reads the caption appearing under a photo of the heavyweight’s last bout.

The Russian Red Devil gave a sold out crowd and President Vladimir Putin what they wanted at St. Petersburg’s famous ICE Palace Arena on April 14th, as he forced American Matt "The Law" Lindland to submit in the very first round of the much anticipated pay-per-view event Bodog Fight: Fedor Emelianenko vs Matt Lindland, Clash of the Nations. Dr. Keith Recap - Gabe Ruediger!

Dr. Keith Lipinski Show Recap – TUF's Gabe Ruediger
Recap by Brian Cooper of http://www.BigVanVader.com

To listen go to http://www.F4WOnline.com or http://www.DrKeithShow.com. This is a MEMBERS ONLY~! show. Dr. Keith returns with part deux of this week’s extraordinary episode. The heavyweight show of audio lore spent some time in the sauna to make weight and welcomes the fanciful "Godzilla" Gabe Ruediger to the show.

*** *** ***
Gabe Ruediger Recap

Dr. Keith begins by asking Gabe to step on the scales for him. Gabe says that the scales read TWO FORTY-THREE and that between Burger World and Kispy Kreme (Donuts) endorsements; he’s making FOUR MILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR. But alas, Gabe admits he’s lying and only weighs 171. This is the first time Gabe hasn’t made weight as he claims to losing 20 pounds on three occasions in the past and ultimately blames himself.

Keith asks where Gabe spent his $300 he won for winning his first fight? Gabe answers icing cake. Gabe says the cake eating incident was a week or two prior to the date of his fight and tragically, the cake was overrated. The THONGS and NUNCHUKS in season 5 were just props but says Andy Wang might actually have won his fight if he was allowed to use them in battle. Corey Hill admitted to Gabe that he was showing off in front of the cameras.

The good doctor asks Gabe if he appears on the show again? Gabe is contractually obliged not to say but does confirm that this is not the end for Gabe Ruediger. Keith then admits how much he wants to HUG Ruediger. Keith asks whether being named Gabriel made Gabe want to be a fighter? Gabe then CALLS OUT Keith and asks if he is mocking him. Keith says he prefers to call fighters MMA artists, before Gabe informs the doctor what the a in MMA stands for (hint: its an artist!).

Keith asks if Gabe was happy with Team Penn’s name of the Bad News Bears? Gabe points out that Jens’ first two picks were strategic and that he was confident he could’ve kicked Corey’s ass. He says that he and Robert Emerson are actually good friends off the show. Gabe says that he is impressed with Nate Diaz but calls Marlon Sims a joke and laughs at Marlon’s story about his street fight with three hundred people, joking that he was impressed seeing it in a Jean Claude Van Damme movie.

SHENANIGANS~! are discussed. Gabe says he had no set dialogue before he entered the show and talks about his ‘hungry dog getting raped’ phrase. Keith asks if Gabe often uses the word TOMFOOLERY? Gabe has but prefers the LOLLYGAGGER word. On BJ Penn, ‘he is by far the most gifted thlete in the World.’ Gabe says that BJ has said he will end the fight with Jens Pulver with an armbar to the left arm saying that he will ‘pull a Babe Ruth’ and point his finger towards the stands.

On crying, Gabe says he cried THIRTEEN times in the first week, EIGHT in the second and FORTY-TWO in his last week but defends that he isn’t ashamed of crying. ‘Don’t cry’ responds the doctor. On the CHLONIC IRRIGATION, Gabe says that BJ actually suggested it and he (BJ) has had it done to him in the past, although he would prefer to be remembered for shenanigans rather than chlonic irrigation and FOOD.

Gabe says that Dana’s speech was justifiable but feels that Dana has to get one of his speeches out every season. He confirms all three of the female listeners of the Dr. Keith Show that that was his real ass on display. Gabe goes into detail of when he passed out admitting that he ‘fucked up’ as he was far too interested in the television show than in fighting. Gabe says he ate because there wasn’t much to do in the house and likens himself to POPEYE. He also mentions his strep throat infection while he was trying to cutting weight.

The CHUBBY TITS nickname is talked about with Gabe finding that quite ‘ridiculous.’ If Gabe could re-live his tie in the Ultimate Fighter house he’d come in shape but would still pull his shenanigans. Keith suggests a boxing match if Gabe fails to make weight again. The interview finishes with Gabe putting over his friend Jeremy Williams and hopes that the listeners can help out the family (go to http://www.nogi.com). Check out http://www.gabegodzila.com or http://www.myspace.com/gabegodzilla. Very good interview.

After comic book talk, Keith talks about Luke’s Darth Vader voicemail and asks for Luke’s favourite Star Wars movie. Keith unleashes a Mick Foley ‘yeah’ at the Empire response.

NEW YORK, May 6, 2007 – The International Fight League (OTC.BB: IFLI), the world’s first team-based professional mixed martial arts league, is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Southern California Condors middleweight Jeremy Williams, 27, of Laguna Niguel, Calif. The Orange County, Calif., Sheriff’s Department – Coroner Division confirmed that Williams died Saturday and that an autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.

“This is a very sad day for the Williams family, Jeremy’s teammates and all of the Mixed Martial Arts community,” IFL Co-founder and Commissioner Kurt Otto said. “Jeremy was a tremendous competitor and teammate, as well as being a very strong person who lifted the spirits of everyone around him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jeremy’s wife, Lauren, their young daughter and the rest of his family, as well as his coaches Marco Ruas and Debi Purcell and all his teammates. Everyone at the IFL, as well as the entire MMA community, will do everything we can to support them in their hour of need.”

One of the rising stars of the first-year league, Williams was going to miss the Condors’ next matchup at the Sears Centre in Chicago on May 19, due to a recent recurrence of a sternum injury.

Memorial details will be announced as they become available.

-- Pro Wrestling/Mixed Martial Arts news and notes 5/02/07

-- Stanley Shenker, whose company provided licensing for WWE, and James K. Bell, a senior VP of licensing and merchandising in WWE, were both sentenced to prison in Bridgeport federal court for taking part in a kickback scheme that cost WWE $1 million. The sentencing that took place on Tuesday resulted in Shenker receiving 33 months in prison, three years of probation and owing $2.8 million in restitution to WWE and Bell receiving an eight-month sentence, three years of probation and must pay a $6,000 fine and more than $950,000 in restitution. Both men defrauded WWE when Shenker paid Bell close to $1 million between 1998-2002 and concealing the payments, and Shenker used fake invoices to write off the expenses when filing taxes. The fake invoices had stated that Bell had earned the money for consultation.

-- From WWE.com: Matt Cappotelli, former Tough Enough winner and Ohio Valley Wrestling Champion, underwent brain surgery today to remove a growing brain tumor. Doctors called the surgery a success.

-- The Las Vegas Sun has an article on Mike Tenay discusses how he became interested in wrestling and also reveals that Tenay hit a milestone in his broadcasting career by appearing on his 2,000th wrestling show on TV recently. "I have considered every day I have been on TV a bonus," Tenay says. "I consider myself fortunate to have fallen into this job. But I don't think of myself as having been lucky. I was opportunistic. And when my time comes to leave, I hope I can be the gentleman Gordon Solie was."

-- The opening match for CZW's Tournament Of Death VI this June will be Necro Butcher vs. "Simply Marvelous" Mitch Ryder in a no rope barb wire match. The finals will be 200-light tube lumberjack match where the participants will have to go through the lumberjacks, retrieve the TOD trophy and bring it back to the ring.

Ramsey St.] in Banning, CA on 5/19 where he'll speak at a ceremony and do a meet and greet with soldiers. The event begins at 9AM PST. "It is a privilege for me to be invited to this event," said Mr. Ortiz. "I try to support our troops in any way I can and will continue to do so. Whatever I do, however, doesn't even come close to what our guard and other soldiers do for us every day. My heart is always with the families of those who serve our country and especially with those whose loved ones have made the ultimate sacrifice."

-- Tito makes an appearance on MadTV this Saturday (11PM EST) where he'll be in a mock deodorant commercial.

-- Five Ounces of Pain: Conversation with Tito Ortiz, Part I

-- Sean Sherk on fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an MMA match: I don't think that fight would last longer than a minute, to be honest with you. And I don't think he should be talking about something that he can't back up, because I'll fight him tomorrow. "Good Ole Boy" Hopes to Stop the "Viking" Quest

"Good Ole Boy" Hopes to Stop "Viking" Quest on Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat

For Immediate Release

April 30, 2007

Much like the Scandinavian pirates who plundered the coasts of Europe from the 8th to 10th centuries, Dan "The Viking" Evensen will be seeking victory at all costs when the hit mixed martial arts series Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat continues this Tuesday, May 1 at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION Television.

After winning his first five pro fights, the towering 6-5, 260-pound Norwegian has suffered two straight defeats and needs to beat Jeremiah "Good Ole Boy" Constant in order to get his MMA career back on track.

"I have to win," says the 32-year-old Evensen. "I don't care who my opponent is. It's going to be violent, and I'm going to end this fight."

Standing in his way is 32-year-old Constant, who has only been defeated once in five pro bouts. "The Good Ole Boy" hails from Oklahoma but now trains in Oregon with middleweight sensation Matt Lindland and Team Quest.

"The people are different (in Oregon) and I stick out like a sore thumb," says the former oil field worker. "I love fishin', huntin' and pretty much anything that doesn't got nothin' to do with the city. But the coaches here are good and Matt has been a real mentor in life."

Dan Evensen

In other MMA action, Pennsylvania's Stephen Haigh takes on Takuya Wada of Japan. 26-year-old Haigh, a product of Philadelphia's famous Fight Factory, has three wins and two defeats, while his 29-year-old opponent sports a pro record of 13-7-8.

Can't catch the action on ION? All episodes of the Bodog Fight series are available worldwide through video streaming at BodogFight.com, with behind-the-scenes exclusives, fighter bios and additional footage only available online.

Mixed Martial Arts news and notes 4/28/07

-- By Art Shimko
shimko_7@hotmail.com

-- Just like Thursday's pro wrestling update we're catching up with all the latest news in MMA...

-- Last weekend in Manchester, fans watching UFC 70 on TV and at the MEN Arena saw quite the upset in the main event as Gabriel Gonzaga (who Casey, Euan and myself ignorantly gave no chance in hell of winning) defeated Mirko Cro Cop using Cro Cop's finishing move, a devastating high-kick which KILLED him and was sent into oblivion. At 4:51 of the first round Mirko landed in a very awkward position to the point that his leg buckled underneath and was bent in a way that a leg isn't supposed to.
If I remember correctly referee Herb Dean quickly dashed to put Cro Cop's leg in the proper position, I thought for sure that he fucked up his knee and ankle but reports stated that he was walking around fine after the match. So now Gonzaga advances to fight heavyweight champ Randy Couture, and if you think a Cro Cop/Couture encounter sounded scary for Couture's fate, one with Gonzaga will be even more insane, not only can he fight on his feet but if it goes to the ground Couture will be working overtime trying to keep up with Gonzaga.
The rest of the show was good, nothing spectacular but historic nonetheless. The David Heath/Lyoto Machida match, which was scheduled to air on the Spike TV broadcast in the States, was said to be so fucking boring that it didn't even make onto Spike.
Instead Spike showed the Matt Grice/Terry Etim dark match which made sense as Liverpool-based Etim got the victory and was the second Brit of the evening to score a victory for the crowd as Michael Bisping won his match against Elvis Sinosic.
The most BORING matches were the Andrei Arlovski/Fabricio Werdum and Assuerio Silva/Cheick Kongo fights, both of which went the distance. Kongo bored me again, not sure what the deal is because I could've sworn the first time I saw him in UFC I thought Kongo was a killer and could be a major deal in the heavyweight division but after seeing his recent fights I'm not sure what's going on. By the way Kongo won via majority (split) decision.
Remember when I said that the Heath/Machida fight was so bad that it didn't make the airwaves in the States? Well as Casey brought up on a recent podcast, one can wonder why the Arlovski/Werdum fight was aired when this had to be a fucking boring-ass fight. The crowd hated it booing like crazy and Joe Rogan was on Arlovski's back during commentary regarding his mundane performance. Arlovski won via unanimous decision but I have this feeling that he'll be going the route that Heath Herring did and work dark matches on Fight Night specials. Complete results can be read on UFC's site.

-- Attendance for the show was reported to be a sell-out at 14,921 with £1.3 million ($2,600,000 US) in ticket sales making UFC 70 MEN Arena's third highest-grossing event. The show did well on Spike TV which drew a 1.84 rating (2.8 million viewers) and peaked at 3.5 million viewers during the main event.

-- Gonzaga received a hero's welcome when the Ludlow, MA native arrived at the Marco Alvan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Training Center earlier this week and was greeted and congratulated by proud students and Alvan. "I want to thank all my teammates," Gonzaga said through his manager and translator, Alvan. "No one can be in the best of shape without their partners." Gonzaga's fight with Couture has been reported to take place on 8/25 but Gonzaga couldn't confirm that date.

-- If only Melvin Guillard was booked on UFC 69 or UFC 70... The Houston Chronicle reports that fighters who participated in UFC 69 and 70 weren't drug tested as according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation stated that was the responsibility of "sanctioning body" of the event, that being the UFC who ran UFC 69 in Houston earlier this month. As far as what happened at UFC 70 regarding testing: "We were ordering tests, but found we had no legal means to do it," said [UFC rep Marc] Ratner. "They had no commission there. There was no drug testing there." I was under the impression that Zuffa was going to fly people out to England to take care of this, those fighters who may have dabbled in any type of questionable substance better count their lucky stars and not fuck around with fate next time.

-- Matt Serra and Matt Hughes have been announced as the coaches for season six of The Ultimate Fighter. That will be GREAT~!

-- UFC 71 on 5/26 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena: (matches announced so far) Chuck Liddell Vs. Quinton Jackson; Josh Burkman Vs. Karo Parisyan; Thiago Silva Vs. James Irvin; Sean Salmon Vs. Eric Schafer; Jeremy Stevens Vs. Din Thomas

-- Chuck Liddell discusses his upcoming battle with Quinton Jackson on KCAL 9 in L.A. this morning, no NyQuil malfunction this time.

-- UFC 72 on 6/16 at the Odyssey in Belfast: (matches announced so far) Rich Franklin Vs. Martin Kampmann; Rory Singer Vs. Jason MacDonald; Scott Smith Vs. Ed Herman

-- Tickets are now on sale for The Ultimate Fighter 5 finale which takes place on 6/23 at the Palms Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas featuring TUF 5 coaches BJ Penn and Jens Pulver in the main event.

-- An interview with Tito Ortiz on MMANews.com.

-- Rashad Responds to Tito Ortiz

-- the Iowa Senate is looking to end state regulation of MMA claiming that the sport's so dangerous it cannot be regulated. Are these guys dipshits or what? “We’ve got a serious problem with shoot fighting. We’re either going to regulate it or we’re not,” said Sen. Bill Dotzler, D-Waterloo, the leading backer of the plan. The Senate had passed a deregulation bill last month but the House was indecisive on passing the bill so early this week the MMA proposal was lumped in with a larger budget bill to be voted on this week. The budget bill was passed but the MMA proposal was not discussed or settled. Throughout this tug of war on coming to a conclusion the state basically doesn't want to be liable for injuries and such resulting in fights. “I’ve got e-mails from Las Vegas and Canada telling me I’m a dummy,” [Sen. Bill Dotzler] said. “They don’t understand the bill. All it says is in Iowa, you can do all your events, just the state isn’t going to be liable for it because we can’t make the sport safe.”

-- Meanwhile in Nebraska, Legislative Bill 471 to regulate MMA events received first-round approval making the State Athletic Commission oversee the sport and events run in the state. State Sen. Ernie Chambers, who actually propsosed the bill, is not a fan of the sport and doesn't think the state should run events but states, "We should not want to drive it underground," he said. "Regulation is better than ignoring it or banning it."

-- Cage fight in legal gray area

-- MMA in Philly? After red tape

-- This coming Monday's IFL Battleground will feature DEAR DON~! as a regular segment, I so hope it's as great on TV as it has been on IFL's site. Here's a sample that may not make it to television.

-- IFL has moved its 6/16 show from Reno to the Las Vegas Hilton making it the first ever MMA event held there. “We were presented an opportunity for this breakthrough event in Las Vegas, and we felt it is an opportunity we could not pass up,” said IFL CEO and co-founder Gareb Shamus. The event, which will be the last of nine regular season IFL events, features the Nevada Lions against the Tucson Scorpions and the New York Pitbulls against the Toronto Dragons.

-- Seattle Tiger Sharks coach Maurice Smith will be fighting for the first time in almost seven years when he takes on SoCal Condors coach and rival Marco Ruas on 5/19 at the Sears Centre in Chicago.

-- WEC at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas on 5/12: Doug Marshall vs. Justin McElfresh; Lightweight Bout: Rich Crunkilton vs. Jamie Varner; Middleweight Bout: Jason “Mayhem” Miller vs. Hiromitsu Miura; Light Heavyweight Bout: Gary Padilla vs. Ariel Gandulla; Lightweight Bout: Marcus Hicks vs. Sergio Gomez; Welterweight Bout: Tom Speer vs. Sidney Silva; Bantamweight Bout: Brandon Foxworth vs. Manny Tapia; Lightweight Bout: Ed Ratcliff vs. Johnny Sampaio; Middleweight Bout: Eric Schambari vs. Art Santore

-- Frank Trigg has a new MMA radio show that airs daily from 9-10AM PST at www.taggradio.com.

-- Zach Arnold of Fight Opinion has the latest on the Ed Fishman/DSE lawsuit.

-- Total Fighting Alliance's War on the Shore event will be broadcast live online for free. The event takes place on Saturday between 6-9PM PST at the Santa Monica Civic Center an can be viewed at www.totalfighting.net.

Brad "One Punch" Pickett Aims to Entertain on Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat

Brad "One Punch" Pickett Aims to Entertain on Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat

For Immediate Release

April 23, 2007

Find out if England's Brad "One Punch" Pickett can live up to his nickname when the hit mixed martial arts series Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat continues this Tuesday, April 24th at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION Television.

The 29-year-old former Cage Rage British featherweight champion sports a professional MMA record of nine wins and two defeats and takes on newcomer J.R. Sims of Las Vegas. The 23-year-old Sims has just one win and one loss under his belt, but has a strong boxing pedigree and self-proclaimed "heavy" hands.

"He'll probably want to fight me standing up," predicts Sims. "That's okay, because I hit pretty hard, so if he wants to play I'm more than ready!"

Pickett, who has ten amateur boxing fights to his credit, doesn't mind going toe-to-toe and says he just wants to put on a good show at the beautiful outdoor ring on the sunny shores of Costa Rica.

"I love to entertain," says Pickett. "That's why I've created a unique ring walk where I enter as a `pikey', complete with braces (suspenders) and Trilby hat to the song "Wallop" by Chas & Dave. Fans love it."

Fans should also enjoy watching Florida's Rafael "The Claw" Dias and Sweden's Sami Aziz tussle in ring. The 27-year-old Dias trains with American Top Team, and has seven wins and just one defeat, while the 34-year-old Aziz is undefeated in two professional bouts. Despite his light MMA record, Aziz warns that he is no stranger to competition.

"I've wrestled twice at the Olympic Games, and was also ranked number one on the Swedish National Boxing Team in the 71-kilogram weight class."

In addition to being broadcast on ION Television, all episodes of the series will be available worldwide through video streaming at www.BodogFight.com, with behind-the-scenes exclusives, fighter bios and additional footage only available online.

Introducing Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat

Introducing Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat Third Series Debuts with Trio of Brutal Bouts

For Immediate Release
April 16, 2007

Following the overwhelming success of its sophomore series, Bodog Fight changes backdrops for the third installment in its mixed martial arts series. Swapping the frozen tundra of St. Petersburg for the sunny shores of Costa Rica, Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat promises bigger brawls and smaller bikinis.

The first episode debuts this Tuesday, April 17th at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION Television, and features six of the most exciting pound-for-pound fighters in MMA.

In the opening bout, 28-year-old Jake Shields (16-4-11) from San Luis Obispo, California takes on 27-year-old Ray Steinbeiss (8-3-0) from Tempe, Arizona. A student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Vale Tudo fighting legend Cesar Gracie, Shields is one of the best MMA fighters in the world. Will Steinbeiss be able to stop his powerful takedown and submission attempts? The Bodog Fight veteran is up to the challenge as an SWKA Kickboxing champion, Arizona State Wrestling Champion, and IFC Tournament winner.

In other action, 28-year-old Piotr Jakacynski (2-0-1) from Stockholm, Sweden faces 33-year old Steve “The Red-Nosed Pit Bull” Berger (18-15-3) from St. Louis, Missouri. With 37 pro-fights under his belt, Berger is a seasoned veteran with the courage to match his nickname. He admits to getting nervous before his fights, but those nerves quickly become fuel for the coming battle.

“I tend to feed off that nervousness and anticipation though, and channel it into positive energy,” he said.

Piotr Jakacynzki

A stock broker by day, Jakacynzki is a pain broker by night. While his stock may be on the rise, once he steps through the ropes the only numbers he’ll be thinking about are one-two!

In addition to being broadcast on ION Television, all episodes of the series will be available worldwide through video streaming on www.BodogFight.com. Fight fans will get access to previews, recaps, behind-the-scenes exclusives, fighter bios and additional footage only available online.

"Dana White Has Once Again Taken the Low Road..." Says Tito Ortiz

UFC Fighter Says UFC President "Disrespects All Fighters," by His Attitude

LOS ANGELES, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Apr 16, 2007 -- Statement from Ultimate Fighting Championship Fighter Tito Ortiz about accusations by Dana White, UFC President on Spike TV Thursday, April 12, 2007:
"Dana White has once again taken the low road and decided to try to damage my reputation and credibility in a public forum. During an appearance on Spike TV on April 12th White accused me of failure to show up for a fight we had originally scheduled for March 24th. He did so at the end of the program and gave me no opportunity to respond or tell the real story, which is simply this: White was fully informed well in advance of March 24th that I would not fight without a contract, which White refused to sign.

"Fighting is my livelihood and jeopardizing my body without a full understanding of conditions, doesn't make any sense. No professional fighter will go into a risky match without a contract.

"I've struggled to get respect and dignity for my profession and I do it in the way I lead my life as a fighter and as a human being. Dana's attitude not only disrespects me, but all fighters. I am taking this stand just not for this one incident, but for all future champions.

"I want to reiterate: I am ready to settle my differences with Dana White in any fighting forum we can agree on, but only if there is a signed contract that stipulates where the money is going, whether it is to charity or to the fighters doesn't matter as much as having a definitive agreement.

"Until Dana White is ready to fight me on a professional basis, I strongly urge him to keep his mouth shut."

For more information or interviews with Tito Ortiz, contact: Sara Perkins - Tito Ortiz Press Office - 212-687-1977 or perkycomm@aol.com.

About Tito Ortiz:

Jacob "Tito" Ortiz (born January 23, 1975) is a legendary participant of the sport of mixed martial arts, or "MMA." Ortiz has become one of the sport's shining stars, headlining pay per view championship events and appearing on the cover of such magazines as Black Belt. He is a native of Huntington Beach, CA and is also known as "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy."
