-- Ring Of Honor's latest Video Wire features Samoa Joe's farewell to the ROH fans as he will be devoting more time to TNA and the indy dates the company has booked for him this year according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com. I remember seeing Joe winning the title from Xavier at the Murphy Rec in 2003 and then losing it to Austin Aries at Final Battle 2004, in between he had great matches with Dan Maff, Christopher Daniels, Bryan Danielson, Homicide, Kobashi, CM Punk and many others helping bring ROH to a level beyond the average indy promotion. Best of luck to Joe, it'll be nice to see him do a special one-off appearance down the road but it's cool to see him moving ahead. Here is a list of Joe's final dates and opponents:
-February 16th, Manhattan: Samoa Joe vs. Takeshi Morishima
-February 17th, Philadelphia: Samoa Joe vs. Davey Richards
-February 23rd, Dayton: Samoa Joe vs. Jimmy Rave
-February 24th, Chicago, Joe's United States farewell: Samoa Joe & Homicide vs. Takeshi Morishima & Nigel McGuinness
-March 3rd, Liverpool: Samoa Joe vs. Nigel McGuinness
-March 4th, Liverpool: Samoa Joe's final ROH match, opponent to be determined

-- Due to a widespread herpes outbreak in Minnesota, high school wrestling programs have been suspended until 2/6 following 24 herpes gladiatorum cases reported by 10 teams. The virus is spread through skin-to-skin contact leaving lesions on the face, neck and head.

-- RAW did a 4.1 and WSX scored a 1.0 rating which isn't bad considering TNA's highest has been a 1.1 and ECW has done a 1.5 lately.

-- There's an article in the Baltimore Sun about Stacy Keibler who appears on the George Lopez show at 8PM on ABC and also will be in a drama series titled What About Brian premiering on 2/12. Keibler says that WWE fired her she was appearing on Dancing With the Stars last year. "My lawyer was in the process of renegotiating my contract ... and they ended up firing me during Dancing With the Stars," Keibler says. "Then I got a call a day or two later saying they're not going to fire me, but they're just going to let my contract run out. I don't know why they decided not to use the term 'fired.'"

"I have a lot to thank Vince [McMahon] and WWE for because I wouldn't have been on Dancing With the Stars without them, but I was really surprised that they ended up firing me."

-- There's an article in the Boston Herald and on WHDH Channel 7 Boston's homepage about Marlborough indy wrestler Chris "The Skunk" Antal (no pun intended) pissing off Brazilians worldwide after footage of him urinating on the Brazilian flag for a storyline aired on the Sunday edition of Fantastico, a Brazilian tabloid show seen by 35 million people around the globe. The footage by Antal originally aired on his public access show Pro Wrestling Monthly, not sure of the impact this angle had locally but Antal can rest assure that he's a real-life heel in Brazil.

An Interview With Dale Pierce, author of Riot At The Garden.

Thanks to Phx. Madison Square Garden Myspace page for reprinting permission.

An Interview With Dale Pierce, author of Riot At The Garden.

Q. You are considered one of the foremost authorities on wrestling at the old Phoenix Madison Square Garden...

A I do not really consider myself an authority because when someone claims to be an expert, I have found that person is usually full of himself and full of shit, so I try to decline any title of this nature. I simply have a good memory and happen to be one of the last people to cover the history of the arena, so people tend to ask me questions, but I do not think of myself as a big authority or consider myself to be an expert. There are others out there who would know more about the place than I do, but I just happen to be the person to glamorize it. Thus this title gets dumped on me.

Q. Tell us about the book Riot At The Garden.

A. It is a smaller book. What happened was I wrote this in 1979, right after the old arena closed down for goods, as I had just entered the wrestling business as a participant, doing a manager role. Beforehand, at the old Garden, I had been a photographer and designed the programs sold at the arena, so with the new book I had something extra to sell at other arenas. When it went out of print, it went out of print, period; as I had no copies left, even for myself. Then in 1996, this referee named Hicks wanted to reissue it and did. Then in 2005, he put it out again. The final go around he was charging more than I thought he should, but the money is going to a good cause. The bulk of it goes into a fund for the retired wrestlers in Phoenix and their annual reunions as a lot of these guys did not save anything, some have no insurance and so on. You can find out about the Garden and some of the other arenas and people/places wrestling in Phoenix at http://www.azwrestlinglegends.com and about the Riot book at http://www.riotatthegarden and http://www.myspace.com/riotatthegarden.

Q. Your book has a lot of focus on a big riot that took place down there, ending in a massive fight between fans and wrestlers? This was in 1971
or so?

A I was there when it happened. This was NOT the only riot to ever take place in the building, but one of the worst, I think. Fans back then took the wrestling world deathly serious. They even had to have this swinging gate to section off the open space between the concession stand and the aisle where the bad guys came out, making their way to the ring. The riot in question took place during the height of a feud between The Comancharos and Ben Justice with his tag team partner, Pancho Pico. This one bout ended in a bloodbath with everyone bleeding and things just exploded. It was in the fall of 1971, but I cannot recall the exact date off the top of my head.

Q. A lot of wrestlers got their start down there?

A True. Jimmy Garvin had his first match there, as a manager for Terry Garvin. he noted this on his webpage. Bobby Jaggers had most of his early matches there, goign as Bobby Mayne. The Samoans had their early matches there as The isalnaders and I recall being there when Sika made his debut, running in to save Afa. Billy Anderson, who is better known as a trainer than a wrestler, had his first bouts there. You might say I started there, though I never wrestled or managed in the arena, because that is where I got my "in" so to speak, via doing the programs. Plus there were several area people whoc ould have made it big universally, but never wanted to leave the southwest. Danny Snyder and Hercules Stevenson come to mind. BIlly Graham has a couple of his early matches down there before heading to Los Angeles with Jerry and making history. Jody Arnold could have been a worldwide draw, but never wanted to leave the Arizona area. .

Q. Jody was a major heel there?

A Oh, you had better believe it. They brought him in as a "nephew" to Don Arnold, who was already a major villain, so just using the Arnold name got him instant heat with the people. He did not just coast on the name either, though he and Don Arnold were not really relations. He made it big on his own. His feuds with tito Montez were legendary, as were some of his matches with David Rose, Cowboy Bob Ellis, Cowboy Bob Yuma, Ron Protchard and some others. He was a big, muscular guy and very articulate with his interviews . I just wish some of the Garden tapes of him in action still existed, but a problem is the promotion kept reusing the same tape to save money, erasing the action from the week before, so many of his best bouts are gone forever. There is a limited amount of footage form other arenas, but nothing of him at the Garden as far as i know. Odd thing is he turned into a fan favorite in the early 1980s. Here is this son of a bitch people hated, then overnight they cheered him like Jesus returning to earth, when The Lumberjacks doublecrossed him.

Q. Have you thought of doing an expanded book on the Garden?

A. Possibly, but I am so wrapped up in so many things. You can find out about them at http://www.myspace.com/daledpohio and anyone reading may feel free to join me as a friend, as I sometimes do wrestling blogs. My books, our no budget horror dvds amd such may also be found in my friends section, on seperate pages. Just drop me a message also when yous end a friend request, so I know you are not one of these damned my space sluts trying to sell me dirty poctures and I will approve you. There is also the possibility of a dvd documentary, but this is going to take some time and planning. No promises. I want to do it, but time is my enemy.

Q. Sadly, a lot of people who worked at the arena have died?

A True. Cowboy Bob Yuma, who fought to keep the Garden from being tikrn down, died in 2006. Sputnik Monroe, The Comancharos, Rudy Navarro, Dick Hutton, Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, the Christy Brothers, Mazurki, Ketonen, Man Mountain Mike, Haystacks Calhoun, Blassie, Red Berry, Kit Fox, Mildred Burke, Navajo Frank, Firpo Zybysco, Russ Barker, Lucifer, Dick Dunn, Eddie Sullivan, Frank Hickey, Don Kent, Gorilla Ramos, Duke Keomuka, Roberto Pico, Tarzan Tyler. They are all dead. SAome died long ago and some died more recently. I have heard Henry Pilusso and Chuck Karbo are dead but have never been able to confirm it,. You have to remember the Garden closed in `1979 and that was a long time ago in its own right. It stands to reason the bulk of those who appeared there except the very youngest, would be dying off by now.

Q What wrestlers were your favorites down there?

A I had several. Cowboy Bob Ellis, The Comancharos, Jody Arnold, Tito Montez, Bobby mayne. I was a kid, then a teenager, watching the shows. The place was like a second home. It sounds sappy, but truew. I was sad to see the building torn down and I really mean that. One of the Lumberjacks saved me a brick from the building, that I have to pick up whenever we make Arizona again. He went to the rubble and took a bunch of bricks to save for varied wrestlers. That shows how strong he felt, I felt and we all felt about seeing the building torn down.

Q You live in Ohio now, correct?

A. Yes, Glendale got too big for us. Had I still been living in Arizona, you can bet your ass I would have been involved with the fight to save the Garden a lot more physically and a lot more actively, but being over 2000 miles away, there wa slittle I could do. I heard Tito Montez flew in from Oregon several times to try to help save the arena. It was all for nothing.

Q. What is the wrestling like in Ohio?

A Well, sadly, a lot of the old buildings have been torn down, just like the Phoenix Madison square Garden. the Akron Armory downtown is gone. The old building on Euclid Avenue up in Cleveland is gone. A lot of history has been sacrificed to progress here too. As for the WWE, I do not know what they are doing and cannot even stomach watching them. there are some indy groups running around that run good shows, but others are absolutely horrible. The very nature of the wrestling world has changed any more and it flat is not the same as when I was a kid,. which saddens me. I do not like a lot of these changes. People do things out there now, in the ring, that would have gotten them fired in the old days. the profanity, the sexual angles, the bullshit. On and on. I could list a hundred fifferences and all of them are bad.

Q. Even though the Garden is gone, it seems like many sites are now covering the history of the building and it is long overdue.

A Hindsight is sadly the best sight, I think. People have started to appreciate too late, all the action that took place down there. It is better than nothing, but a lot of it is too litttle and too late, which again saddens me. So much history down there. So many memories. It depresses me to think the building is gone, but the memories will live on.

Q. What was it like to start in wrestling then as opposed to now?

A A whoile different ballgame . In the time where I started , it was almost like getting into the mafia in an episode of The Sopranos. A lot of the people fromt he Garden were dead set against me starting at first because they wanted me to stay a fan, taking pictures and doing the programs, but once I got in, they were all magnificent at helping me along. It was a family back then, a team atmosphere, not a place for individuality and big egos. Basiczlly back then you ahd to know someone whow a sin, who would convince the others to let you try your hand, but it was probationary and very closed doors . You kept your mouth shut, you did what you were told and you learned. Maniac Mike Gordon was the one who got me in and spoke for me. The Lumberjacks, David Rose, Pedro El Grande and others were all a major help. I learned so much from them. Also the late Eddie Sullivan. Now, you just go to a school, pay someone money and you are in. It didn;t work like that back then. It was a lot more exclusive and because the wrestling world is not like that now, the busines has suffered greatly.. Now if it is all the same to you, I would rather not talk about myself as a manager role. You see, I started working right after the old Garden closed, so this really does not fit the topic that much. Likewise, when you get me under mt, uh wrestling personality, you have to conduct the interview with that oersonality. When I do an interview as Dale Pierce, you get Dale Pierce. I do not blend the two roles as they are different businesses sides of me and dare I say, in a warped way, two different people. It is like having a split personality, yet being aware of it.

Q. There were other Madison Square Gardens that came after the original one on 7th and Van Buren?

A. Yes, another promtoer opened the "new" Madison Square Garden, a dumpy building on 40th Street and Van Buren or so, but he closed down in a copuple years in the 1980s, while a boxing gym wa susing that title in the 1990s, also somewhere on Van Buren. To most of us the only Garden will be the one that is now gone forever. That is the one on 7th Avenue & Van Buren.

Q. What do you know about Jim Wright dying in the building?

A. Before we lived in Arizona. I was not there to see it and have only heard others talk about it. I believe Jim Wright was the brother of Mongol Lu Kimm, but cannot be sure as lots of people cliam to be relatives who are not, both then and now. Anyway, he wa sin a tag team bout and fell off the apron, hitting his head on the hard wooden floor. The blow to the head and the hearta ttack that put him down were like a double curse,. Either would have killed him, but the combo did him in. I had heard the people he was wretslign had gotten really ticked off at him and they did a number on him, which accidentally caused his heart to give out, but again, who knows? That may be an urban legend. In any case, he fell over dead. This wa sin the early 1960s sometime.

Q. What wrestlers do you remember seeing there, from when you were attending bouts?

A. Oh God, so many. Kurt Von Steiger, Eddie Lopez, Ed Blair, Nano Ortega, Hercules Stevenson, Bob Yuma, Benny Mendeblis , The Comancharos, Chuck Hondo, Woody Farmer, Bill Kirk, The Spoiler, Tonah Tomah, Jimmy Kent, The Hornets, Pete Martinez (Marquez), Bambi Ball, Bob Lueck. This could go on and on.

Q. In closing, what was the greatest bout you ever saw there?

A The one written about in the book with The Comancharos facing Ben Justice & Pancho Pico. That was also the great feud I ever saw.

A look back at: MTV's Wrestling Society X premiere

By Art Shimko
shimko_7@hotmail.com

-- So after reading about MTV's "new rasslin' promotion" in the form of a weekly television series through taping reports and such the WSX pilot episode aired Friday night. I just have to say this has been the most televised wrestling I've watched which also included UFC, TNA, ECW and 2 WWE shows I endured this week... anyway, let's get to the meat of the matter.

Show was opened by Black Label Society (BLS to all you hip metal folk) thrashin' out a tune followed by former XPW commentator Kris Kloss and some dude who's name I didn't bother remembering opening the show. Zakk Wylde from BLS joins in to do color, first match in this staged "dingy rathole" underground setting is Jack Evans vs. Matt Sydal. Sydal had a lovely young lass by his side named Lizzy Valentine, cute lil' blonde, I guess they're like the popular "Biff n' Muffy"-type high school couple. If you've seen either man work together or separately this was typical as Evans and Sydal pulled out one spot after another at quite the breakneck speed. Oh, the crowd... yeah go to a mall and/or Hot Topic and you'll see the same lame-ass crowd as the one watching this show in person. Evans won the match and gave Lizzy the "googly eyes". I liked this match, reminded me of what I've seen at indy shows, fun opening match.

Another thing, XPW's GQ Money's doing the ring announcing and boy he was way too energetic, a bit contrived for me personally.

This is only a 30-minute show (THANK GOD~!) so the only other match tonight was the WSX RUMBLE~! Basically a Royal Rumble match only with ten guys and includes tables, ladders and chairs plus explosive shit and canned crowd reaction. There are two contracts above the ring, the ones who retrieve those contracts wrestle for the WSX title next week. The participants were: Justin Credible, Teddy Hart, Kaos, Vampiro, Puma, All Katrazz, 6-Pac (the other announcer puts over DX), Chris Hamrick, New Jack and Youth Suicide (trained by "Deathmatch Legend" Supreme, who you know, ranks up there with Onita, Cactus, Funk and Kudo). Just tons of shit going on at once like usual Rumbles, Kaos bites the big one and lands in an explosive box, Youth falls onto an explosive cage on the side of the ring. Explosions come off cheesy, nothing like the old FMW matches which I don't expect WSX to replicate at all but either you have EXPLOSIONS or you don't. Pac and Vamp both get the contracts and face each other next week (not this Tuesday but the following week).

Overall thoughts, well if Monday Night Raw, better yet... if TNA Impact drank gallons of coffee, sniffed a mile-long line of coke, bumped some speed - and shaved off a half-hour... that's pretty much how WSX felt. Very fast-paced to satisfy the short attention spans which MTV thrives upon. It's funny how this just comes off as a television show with wrestling elements rather than an actual wrestling show which is what the producers and/or the network are going for. As I wrote earlier, I enjoyed the first match and the Rumble was okay, a lot happening in 13 minutes. If I remember to catch this on Tuesdays I'll watch, I stopped watching ECW on Tuesday nights so I'm still thinking there aren't any wrestling shows that night. If you missed the premiere, it's on again this Tuesday at 10:30PM.

Dr. Keith Lipinski Show Recap - Missy Hyatt, Ace Steel, The Iron Sheik

Dr. Keith Lipinski Show Recap - Missy Hyatt, Ace Steel, The Iron Sheik
By Brian Cooper, http://www.bigvanvader.com

Dr. Keith has moved into the loving arms of the F4WOnline.com EMPIRE~! The first series of huge shows starts with a very special introduction (http://www.f4wonline.com/free/011907dks.mp3) and then goes into three tremendous guests….

Missy Hyatt Recap -
Listen NOW! http://www.f4wonline.com/free/012007dks.mp3

~ A spiffing introduction of the first lady of wrestling, from the first doctor of wrestling radio prompts Missy to want a tape of it to play every morning when she wakes up. After college talk, Missy talks of her contempt of the bitter ex-wrestlers, and talks of managing Larry Zybysko and being piledriven by Dory Funk Jr. in recently.
~ Missy dismisses the reports that Sean Waltman had shagged her, 'it's one of the stupidest rumours I ever heard.' She feels there is a place for her in the present product and would like to help the girls do promos, 'I don't think there's one woman that can talk.' Missy puts over Stephanie McMahon as the only good heel woman, saying she must've played herself being a 'stuck-up Daddy's girl.'
~ Dr. Keith asks if Missy got to se the Heroes of Word Class documentary? Missy says she has, and cried throughout. She has some great memories from her World Class days, and gives her honest opinions on Fritz Von Erich. On UWF/Mid-South, Missy calls Cowboy Bill an 'ASSHOLE' and 'TYRANT' but says the product was great and like a soap opera, putting over Eddie Gilbert and Hot Stuff International.
~ Missy says he one personal highlight in pro-wrestling was cleaning Jerry Lawler's house, revealing what magazines she found. She refused to work Thursday nights in Memphis because of her television viewing schedule and KNOTTS LANDING~!. She then talks about being kidnapped at the glorious yet Notorious Great American Bash 1991 PPV and that no-one ever found her.
~ ERIC BISCHOFF TALK ~ Missy says she is PISSED OFF by the comments in Eric's book, firstly implying that she and Sherri Martel aren't friends, then lying that she quit in front of his wife. 'You gonna sue Mr. Bischoff for the comments in the book?' 'YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT, BECAUSE HE OUT-AND-OUT LIED,' also noting that in her book she didn't talk about the lawsuit with Turner for legal reasons, but Bischoff did.
And on getting the picture caption mixed up with Sheri, 'HE'S GONNA BE GETTING IT FOR THAT TO.' The good doctor then reads extracts from the book on air. Missy says the animosity happened after she broke up with Jason Hervey. 'HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT.' Missy says over Bischoff's Karate background, that private investigators found out that when he worked as an instructor for youths in Minnesota, 'HE HAD TO QUIT AMONGST ALLEGATIONS THAT HE IMPROPERLY TOUCHED THE BOYS.' Missy then talks of the allegation of Bischoff touching her breasts, she says that Eric that said 'IF YOU FUCKED ME THE WAY YOU SHOULD, YOU'D STILL HAVE A JOB HERE.' Missy says that if Bischoff had fondled her breasts then, 'I'M KNOCKING THE SHIT OUT OF YOU.' Missy also tells the story of when she wanted to stick a hockey stick up Eric Bischoff's ass (no, not the Goons stick), and that Eric can see the arsenal of her weapons at her website, as well as several other assets.
~ Onto Beulah McGuillicutty, 'WHAT A DIRTY NASTY HO SHE WAS,' and she did nothing but 'whine and complain' at an ECW calendar shoot. Missy also calls Jasmine St. Clair 'DIRTY,' before more website plugs. On working for WWE, Missy talks about Vince paying 'minimum wage,' although she'd do it for Missy's Manor.
~ Back to Bischoff, the 'NOTHING HAPPENING CREEP,' Missy says that she and Jim Ross did their stuff on the first take, but Eric took twelve - twenty takes. 'The guy could never, ever on the cue get it correct.' 'THAT'S THE REASON I NEEDED VALIUM BECAUSE OF ERIC BISCHOFF.' Missy then talks how she could've got away with KILLING ERIC BISCHOFF.
~ Missy also talks about becoming a Science teacher, writing for the Declaration of Independents website and wanting to sell her artwork paintings in this recappers most shocking interview to recap since Manny Fernandez spoke of beating up Invader III following Bruiser Brody's death. Ace Steel Recap
Listen NOW! http://www.f4wonline.com/free/012107dks.mp3

~ Ace says he has been recognized several times since being Donald Trump on RAW. He 'had a clue' a few days before that he could be Donald Trump. Ace talks about the psychology playing Trump. Dr. Keith says
this could be his big break, 'you never know what's around the corner my friend.' Foreshadowing! Ace talks about Vince's involvement in arranging the match.
Ace says he expected the crowd to turn on the match but knew he had a job to do, but backstage everyone knew the crowd would 'shit on the match,' as it always was going to be a farce. 'I'VE PICKED UP HEAVY PEOPLE BEFORE BUT SHE WAS SIMPLY TOO MUCH.' Keith asks whose side Ace takes in the Donald vs. Rosie argument, 'Don's, she should've minded her own business.'
~ Keith calls Ace Steel sexy, which Ace refutes as he is over thirty. Ring of Honor talk next, Ace says the Cage of Death was awesome, but says the Dragon Gate style is the 'in-style' but isn't his gig, although he 'loves Ring of Honor, and loves working there.' Blues Brothers music and sequel known as Blues Brothers 2000 talk.
~ On training wrestlers, Ace calls Colt Cabana a natural athlete unlike CM Punk, and that Colt is coming into his own right now. Ace then talks about the day Lex Luger called him. Ace calls Lex a 'phenom.' Talking about Ace's gym in Missouri, Ace says that Mick Foley and Terry Funk have both worked out there.
~ Ace talks about working for Harley Race's WLW, and the progress made by Ted DiBiase's sons. Pro Wrestling NOAH talk with Ace hoping to work with NOAH again. Keith talks about the excellent Ace Steel match with KENTA. The doctor finishes by asking Ace Steel to bring the Donald Trump wig to the 24 February ROH card at Chicago Ridge - which Ace probably won't be at as he recentally got signed by the WWE almost 24 hours after this interview. Congrats Ace and KIS (Keep it Sexy) Checkout http://www.acesteel.net

Iron Sheik Recap
Listen NOW! http://www.f4wonline.com/free/012207dks.mp3

~ Sheiky puts over the city of Chicago, real wrestling country, and where he worked for Mr. Gagne. He talkis about HUMBLING Larry Sweeney last time he was in Chicago. Dr. Keith asks Sheiky baby about SHEIKY'S
OWN REALITY SHOW.
~ Joey Eastman says his favourite Chicago Shieky moment was in November was when he was put into the camel clutch and HUMBLED! Joey said that Sheiky 'BROKE HIS BACK, PUT ME IN THE CAMEL CLUTCH AND MADE ME HUMBLE!' but is yet to confirm that he also got his ass fucked.
~ Kramer talk ~ YAY! Joey wants Sheiky to give Kramer a RECEIPT. Keith says that Sheik has a lot of love in his heart 'EXACTLY,' and talks of the sporting greats this century; 'MUHAMMAD ALI, MICHAEL JORDAN, JOEY EASTMAN AND THE IRON SHEIK.'
~ WWE Hall of Fame talk ~ Shieky thinks that Bruno Sammartino should be in there after selling out more Madison Square Garden events than any other wrestler, somehow forgetting his own claim. Should the Von Erich's be in the Hall of Fame? 'GOD BLESS YOU.' What about the Ultimate Warrior? 'he was a great performer and a GREAT ATHLETE,' and maybe GAY. On the Original Sheik Ed Farhat, 'GOD BLESS YOU.'
~ Dr. Keith asks about the possibility of a Ric Flair - Iron Sheik match in 2007? 'I AM 3 TIME GOLD MEDAL, AAU CHAMPION ... NONE OF THEM CAN HANDLE ME ~ Ric Flair, Ken Patera, Jim Brunzell, Greg Gagne.' Only Kurt Angle and Dan Gable match Iron Sheik's class.
~ Keith asks about Samoa Joe? ' I haven't seen, but I heard that Kurt Angle he's not anymore in the WWE, THE LAST I SAW FROM HIM, HE WAS IN THE OLYMPIC GAMES IN 1996.' Back to the Hall of Fame and Big Boss Man? 'GOD BLESS HIM.'
~ But what about the Killer Bees? 'That Punk Brian Blair, he was lucky, I had him in the camel clutch, but Vince sent Hacksaw to save him,' and 'BRIAN BLAIR IS A PUNK, A JABRONI. I SUPLEXED HIM, I HAD HIM IN THE CAMEL CLUTCH TO BREAK HIS BACK AND FUCK HIS ASS, MAKE HIM HUMBLE.'
~ Keith asks with the twenty year anniversary of Wrestlemania III whether Joey Eastman could promote a rematch? 'The World needs to see Sheik HUMBLE B. Brian Blair,' replies Eastman. Sheiky says he will sign a contract anytime, and even though he is 60 he could still beat B. Brian Blair. Hey, won't he be 60-ish to?
~ The doctor asks if there's another wrestler that Shieky would like to HUMBLE? Apparently there's only Brian Blair. 'That punk is lucky I can not find him.' Keith asks if Sheiky watches Hogan Knows Best? Sheiky said he was the person who beat Bob Backlund after six years and that Hulk Hogan never turned into a Michael Jordan of the 'wrestling sport.' Oh, and apparently, Brian Blair was a 'Hogan stooge,' before asking God to bless all of his Chicago wrestling fans. Checkout http://www.myspace.com/sheikybaby ~ Sheiky's own MySpace!

Fight Night Live 8 Predictions Recap

By Casey Trowbridge

I'm going to be brief with this one as I'm pretty tired.

Well, Fight Night Live is in the books, so lets see how we did.

Match 1: Rich Clementi Def. Ross Pointon
In this fight, everyone but Euan and myself picked Clementi and everyone but Euan and myself was correct.

Match 2: Din Thomas Def. Clay Guida
Ric, Wade and myself picked Thomas to win and the rest picked Clay Guida and we were correct.

Match 3: Ed Herman Def. Chris Price
It was unanimous, we all picked Ed Herman to win, and he did so thumbs up for that.

Match 4: Josh Burkman Def. Chad Reiner
Art and Marcus picked Reiner to win and the rest of us had Burkman and were correct.

Match 5: Nate Marquardt Def. Dean Lister
Marcus and myself picked lister and we were humbled right along with young Dean.

Match 6: Hermes Franca Def. Spencer Fisher
Ric and Wade picked Franca and they were the only members of the party to get it right.

Match 7: Jake O’Brien Humbled Heath Herring
Unanimous pick going in was Heath Herring, and unanimous getting it wrong.

Match 8: Rashad Evans Def. Sean Salmon
This is the third fight that got a unanimous selection. The first 2 were split with us all getting Herman right and Herring wrong. The final fight was ended emphatically by Rashad giving us all the win.

UFC Standings…
Ric: 7-1 for 87.5%
Wade: 6-2 for 75%
Scott: 5-3 for 62.5%
Casey: 4-4 for 50%
Art: 4-4 for 50%
Euan: 4-4 for 50%
Marcus: 3-5 for 37.5%

In the Overall Standings, it looks like this…
Ric: 3 Events, 13 wins, 10 losses for 56.5%
Marcus: 2 events, 9 wins, 7 losses for 56.25%
Wade: 2 events, 9 wins, 7 losses for 56.25%
Scott: 2 events, 8 wins, 8 losses for 50%
Casey: 3 Events, 10 wins, 13 losses for 43.4%
Art: 3 events, 8 wins, 14 losses for 36.3%
Euan: 3 Events, 7 wins, 15 losses for 31.8%

Scott and Wade made strong showings for themselves predicting their first MMA event. Ric was a Heath Herring victory away from going undefeated on this show.
Next up is WWE’s Royal Rumble and between now and March 11, things should shake out quite a bit.

Upcoming Schedule:
Royal Rumble 01/28
UFC 67 02/03
EXC 1 02/10
Against All Odds 02/11
No Way Out 02/18
Pride 33 02/24
UFC 68 03/03
Destination X 03/11

So no breaks between now and then.

How will the Rumble predictions play out? Can Euan get his first successful WWE prediction of the year? How will the world manage to live as long as Ric Gillespie is in first place? You’ll have to tune in to that column to find out.

A look back at UFC Fight Night 8...

By Art Shimko
arts767@verizon.net

-- Another UFC Fight Night has concluded this evening from the sold-out Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL. The first fight televised was Hermes Franca vs Spencer Fisher and Franca showed off his hands of stone by knocking out Fisher at 4:03 in round two. Franca then got on his knees and like GSP begged for a match for the Lightweight title, Dana enjoyed Franca swearing on live TV. Hulk and Brooke Hogan were shown, I bet there'll be a lot of angry posting on the Sherdog forums like, "what is that FAKE WRESTLER doing at a UFC event??? BLASPHEMY!!!" or some bullshit like that...

Next was a disappointing night for one Heath Herring who the UFC put some hype behind, he lost to Jake O'Brien via decision after three rounds of getting taken down numerous times by O'Brien who wasn't going to have Herring use him as a stepping stone in the UFC. During the slow moments early on there were "HOGAN" chants, yes, at a UFC show. After the fight Herring told Joe Rogan he's here to fight and be exciting, not wrestle or fight on the ground, Rogan gave him a funny look after that comment and as Dave Meltzer said in his Fight Night coverage if you don't want to fight on the ground there's a sport called kickboxing.

Before the Evans/Salmon main event fight, the Ed Herman/Chris Price dark match (on of five from earlier in the evening) was aired and Herman finally got a UFC win after slapping aan armbar on Price in 2:58 of round one.

Rashad Evans KILLED Sean Salmon with a high-kick to the side of his head "Cro Cop"-style, damn that was a highlight reel moment if I ever saw one. Salmon showed a lot of promise in a slow first round getting two takedowns on Evans. After the fight Rogan interviewed Evans who acknowledged Salmon still laid out on the canvas, that kid was SO GONE before the back of his head hit the mat.

Best moments were Franca's fists of fury at the end of his fight and Evan's massive high-kick at the end of his, everything in the middle was okay. Good to see Herman get a win, still pissed about Herring although he has time to prove himself but it's crucial he improves by his next fight.

-- Dark match results from the Wrestling Observer

CARE/other vuz-vuz-vuz Jabronis preview: UFC Fight Night Live 8

Fight Night Live

UFC Fight Night Live 8
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, FL

Casey: I’m glad to see the first UFC event of the year as I am by far and away more interested in UFC than anything being done in professional wrestling. I’d also like to note that the advantage of putting this preview together is that I get to see before most that Euan’s comments for this show are so awesome. One last pressing question I must ask. If Vladimir Kozlov were interviewed at this show, would he say: “I love Ubble-fubble-c”?

Euan: UFC Fight Night is upon us which signals the beginning of a few very busy weeks of MMA and wrestling so let's see what Dana has planned for us. I must thank Casey "the most black brother in the vold" for supplying me with the links to the profiles of each fighter which will influence my predictions and of course the EuTube index will be used for matches where i cannot decide on a winner or if i'm feeling lazy.

Wade: I haven't watched much UFC yet so I will be basing my picks on the fighters win/loss record and/or their strengths.

Scott: I’m making my UFC picks debut for this show. I’m not as educated on who these fighters are as some of my other compatriots, but I make up for it with a willingness to guess and flip coins if need be.

Prediction Tracking:
This is the first UFC event of the year and the first MMA event overall. As a result there is nothing for this specific company in th way of stats yet but we can still look at the overall…

Marcus: 1 event, 6 wins with 2 losses for 75%
Casey: 2 Events, 6 wins with 9 losses for 40%
Ric: 2 events, 6 wins with 9 losses for 40%
Art: 2 Events, 4 wins with 10 losses for 28.5%
Euan: 2 Events, 3 wins with 10 losses for 23.1%
Scott: 1 event, 3 wins with 5 losses for 37.5%
Wade: 1 event, 3 wins with 5 losses for 37.5%

Welterweight Bout: (Dark)
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=454
Ross “The Gladiator” Pointon (5:8, 168.5, 4-8-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=288
Rich “No Love” Clementi (5:9, 169.5, 22-6-0)

Last UFC Bout: Rich Clementi lost to Din Thomas via submission at the Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale on 11/11/2006. Ross Pointon lost to Rory Singer on the Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale on 06/24/2006.

Casey: This is a tough fight to call for me. Looking things over, the experience edge lies with Clementi. Looking at the 2 nicknames which I think is always a key to the fight as if your nickname is stupid enough you can get your opponent to start laughing during ring intros and next thing you know he’s tired and falls victim to your offense. I call this the “Ken flo” theory. So in that battle which is close I give the slight edge to “The Gladiator” as while they’re both fine nicknames, Clementi’s suggests childhood horrors more than it does tougher fighter. However, they are both coming off of losses in their last fights. The nickname theory not withstanding, I don’t have as good a reason as Euan does for why I’m going this direction, but…
Winner: Ross Pointon

Art: Clementi via TKO R1
Winner: Rich Clementi

Ric: After losing this one, will Pointon drop to lightweight?
Winner: Rich Clementi

Euan: I am going to pick Ross Pointon to win this fight for two reasons: he is British and i have to support my own country and when asked if he had any heroes he answered "Myself". A great man.
Winner: Ross Pointon

Scott: I’m going to give this to Clementi based on experience.
Winner: Rich Clementi

Wade: Both men have lost their recent fights so I'm sure both are wanting a win. I think Rich will come out on top.
Winner: Rich Clementi

Marcus: Rich Clementi to win.
Winner: Rich Clementi

Lightweight Bout: (Dark)
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=494
Clay “The Carpenter” Guida (5:7, 154, 21-3-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=20
Din “DinYero” Thomas (5:9, 154.5, 21-7-0)

Last UFC Bout: Din Thomas defeated Rich Clementi via submission on the Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale on 11/11/2006. Clay Guida defeated Justin James via submission at UFC 64 on 10/14/2006.

Casey: In this lightweight bout you have 2 fighters coming off of victories in their last fight. You also have “The Carpenter” Vs. “DinYero” which even though I don’t really know what a “DinYero” is supposed to be, the “Carpenter” suggests he has another career in mind should fighting not work out. I took the youth in the last fight so by my horrible logic its time to go with a man who has more UFC experience in this one.
Winner: Din Thomas

Art: Guida via submission R2
Winner: Clay Guida

Ric: I see this going a lot like Thomas' recent fight against Rich Clementi, with the same result of a win for Thomas.
Winner: Din Thomas

Euan: If you do anything today, you have to go and look at Guida's UFC profile and check out the first picture in his photo gallery. He looks like he just shit himself live on PPV and i laughed heartily. So for providing laughs, i will predict Guida to defeat Thomas.
Winner: Clay Guida

Scott: During this fight I am going to employ my brilliant strategy and predict the winner by guessing.
Winner: Clay Guida

Wade: I'm going with Clay here based on his strengths.
Winner: Clay Guida

Marcus: Clay Guida to win.
Winner: Clay Guida

Middleweight Bout: (Dark)

Ed “Short Fuse” Herman (6:2, 186, 13-4-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=487
Chris “The Exorcist” Price (6:3, 192, 8-1-0)

Last UFC Bout: Ed Herman lost via submission to Jason MacDonald at “Ortiz Vs. Shamrock III the Final Chapter”, on 10/10/2006. Chris Price lost to Kendal Grove at “Ortiz Vs. Shamrock III the Final Chapter” on 10/10/2006 via submission.

Casey: Ed Herman is on a 2-fight losing streak inside the Octagon. Both of these men lost their last fight, I saw both of those fights and neither of them looked more impressive in defeat than did the other. I think that Herman really needs to win this fight in order to be something as if he loses a third fight in a row he’d just be better off changing his name to Herman Munster. In the vaunted nickname battle “The Exorcist” Vs. “Short Fuse”, you do have to give that to Chris Price. Yeah, it also suggests that he like Clay Guida before him has another career in mind but I think it takes 1 tough man to perform exorcisms. Although, if you had “Short fuse” doing that job then he could just get pissed at the demon possessed man and knock him out.
If that is not enough to convince you that Chris Price is in for a humbling, perhaps this note found at the bottom of the UFC.com weigh-in story will do the trick?
* Herman agreed to face Price despite the Indiana fighter being seven pounds over the middleweight limit of 185 pounds. When Price thanked Herman for still
agreeing to fight, “Short Fuse” responded, “You weren’t getting off that easy.” I give this quote about a hundred thumbs up.
Winner: Ed Herman

Winner: Ed Herman

Ric: I don't think Herman should have much trouble winning this one, which (stylistically) will probably look almost exactly like
Kendall Grove's recent victory over Price.
Winner: Ed Herman

Euan: Herman is attempting to recover from the humbling he suffered at the hands of at the time newcomer Jason MacDonald and in my opinion if he wants to find himself fighting on the PPV again, he must defeat "The Exorcist" Chris Price. I decided to check and see if Mr. Price was indeed a practicing priest and in doing so determine if he is worthy of the nickname "The Exorcist"...well i found Chris Price and well he isn't a priest or American for that fact. He is actually from Wales, don't believe me well here is a link to prove so
http://users.aber.ac.uk/cjp/.
So for being a liar and Welsh, Ed Herman is my choice.
Winner: Ed Herman

Scott: Ed Herman will win, because he is a red head and you don’t piss off red heads.
Winner: Ed Herman

Wade: This fight is elementary given what Herman said at the weigh in. He's very confident and that's always a good thing.
Winner: Ed Herman

Marcus: Ed Herman to win.

Welterweight Bout: (Dark)

Chad “The Grinder” Reiner (5:11, 171, 13-1-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=400
“The People’s Warrior” Josh Burkman (5:10, 171, 18-3-0)

Last UFC Bout: This is Chad Reiner’s UFC Debut. Josh Burkman was victorious at UFC 61 on 07/08/2006 by a Unanimous decision over Josh Neer.

Casey: As this is Reiner’s debut I really don’t know all that much about him or his style, only what I was able to glean from his UFC profile. His nickname makes me think porn star more than fighter though. On the otherhand, Josh Burkman’s last fight was the best on a truly horrific show which isn’t saying much. As for his nickname, “The People’s Warrior” makes me wonder when we hold elections for offices like this and how a campaign for this would work. I invision an election for the position of “People’s Warrior” to contain phrases like “If Elected, I pledge that Pilliging will rise 200% over the last fiscal year while raping will increase by a staggering 500% over that same approximate time”. However, we must not forget that as he is a Warrior, Burkman must also be a believer in distrusity and we all know that distrusity has the power to get you WWE Championship reigns you don’t deserve and wrestling contracts even after you fuck up repeatedly. If distrusity can do that for a man The Grinder doesn’t have a chance.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Art: Reiner via submission R3
Winner: Chad Reiner

Ric: Reiner favors a submission-based style, which is something of a weakness of Burkman's. Still, Burkman's edge in wrestling
and overall experience, should be his ticket to a win.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Euan: This is Reiner's UFC debut and i'm afraid to say it's going to be a long night going in against "The People's Champio...Warrior" Josh Burkman. From his interview with UFC.com it is clear that Burkman is a simple man as when asked what his favorite technique was he answered "punching people in the face". Providing he actually punches his opponent and not merely brush against him like Nick fucking Diaz who somehow got himself booked on the upcoming PRIDE show in February, he will win this fight. I can only pray that Diaz is put against Takanori Gomi so i can watch Diaz get the fuck knocked out of him.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Scott: Once again, back to the strategy of taking a guess.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Wade: Burkman has actually had some matches in UFC already so he knows his way around the octagon.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Marcus: Chad “The Grinder” Reiner, yeah I’m the only one so far.
Winner: Chad Reiner

Dean “The Boogeyman” Lister (6:1, 185, 9-4-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=370
Nate “The Great” Marquardt (6:0, 185.5, 27-6-1)

Last UFC Bout: On 08/17/2006 Dean Lister defeated Yuki Sasaki by Unanimous decision at Fight Night 6. Nate Marquardt was victorious over Crafton Wallace on 10/10/2006 at “Ortiz Vs. Shamrock III” by submission.

Casey: Euan stole all of the Boogeyman jokes that I was going to make in the nickname contest. I’m not sure if Nate Marquardt can live up to his nickname of being great. I remember being really impressed with Lister when I saw him at UFC 60 and if I remember that much than it must mean something.
Winner: Dean Lister

Art: Marquardt via submission R3
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Ric: This one, like the first bout, is in danger of becoming a boring stalemate, but that aside, I'm going with Marquardt.
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Euan: Oh, when did "The Boogeyman" go to UFC? I wonder if worms are allowed in the Octagon? Anyway, both men are coming off victories in their last fights so
a good show here could earn them a place on a PPV in the near future. Marquart has the obvious experience advantage over Lister but come on, anyone who
can make red smoke come out of a stick deserves respect right? No. Marquardt to win.
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Scott: Marquardt seems to have more experience but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I’m going to pick him anyway because really, why not?
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Wade: Nate has a great win/loss record and is a well rounded wrestler so he should be a shoe in to win.
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Marcus: Dean “The Boogeyman” Lister
Winner: Dean Lister

Lightweight Bout:

Hermes Franca (5:6, 155, 17-5-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=389
Spencer “The King” Fisher (5:7, 154.5, 20-2-0)

Last UFC Bout: Hermes Franca defeated Jamie Varner via submission on 08/26/2006 at UFC 62. Spencer Fisher defeated Dan Lauzon at UFC 64 on 10/14/2006 by a first round TKO.

Casey: Now we’re talking. I love Spencer Fisher for being an honest man and saying that his wrestling sucked after his most recent victory. That means Sean Sherk would probably kill him but Hermes Franca isn’t Sean Sherk. I’m real excited to see this bout. Franca has no nickname but his first name is Hermes which does have to count for something. I’m surprised Euan didn’t make any Jerry Lawler jokes as they were right there, but don’t worry Fisher will fight again. This should be a fun fight and I have a feeling that the King will reign supreme. As an aside, we have the Boogeyman and the King on the same show are we sure this isn’t Smackdown?
Winner: Spencer Fisher

Art: Fisher via TKO R2
Winner: Spencer Fisher

Ric: Boy, oh, boy, this should be interesting! I keep flip-flopping on this, but think I'm gonna go with Franca.
Winner: Hermes Franca

Euan: I like both fighters in this case and i cannot decide on a winner so i will ask someone who has the insight, intelligence and clarity to help. "DOMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HARDU GEI~!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Of course, it's Razor Ramon HG! So HG, help me pick a winner.
"Say, say, say King Fisher FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Well that's it, Spencer Fisher to win.
Winner - Spencer Fisher

Scott: Spencer Fisher will win because Razor Ramon HG said so.
Winner: Spencer Fisher

Wade: Hermes seems to be the more well rounded fighter so I'm going with him.
Winner: Hermes Franca

Marcus: Spencer “The King” Fisher
Winner: Spencer Fisher

Heavyweight Bout:

Jake “Irish” O’Brien (6:3, 234.5 9-0-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=515
Heath “The Texas Crazy Horse” Herring (6:4, 250, 26-11-1)

Last UFC Bout: On 11/18/2006 at UFC 65, Jake O’Brien defeated Josh Schockman by Unanimous decision. This will be Heath Herring’s UFC debut.

Casey: Heath Herring wins the nickname battle in a walk away and I’m sure I don’t need to explain why. Also, my suggestion for O’Brien is to plant a big kiss on Herring during pre-fight instructions because really I think that’s his best chance of walking away the victor assuming that he’d actually be able to walk. I heard Heath Herring on Between the Ropes and he’s just awesome so how can I not pick him?
Winner: Heath Herring

Art: Herring via TKO R1
Winner: Heath Herring

Ric: Two words - Herring will win, and win big. (Ed. Note: I think that might be more than 2 words)
Winner: Heath Herring

Euan: The UFC debut of "The Texas Crazy Horse", i love Heath Herring. I have seen a lot of his fights from PRIDE FC and he is to be feared both on his feet and on the mat. Jake O'Brien is coming off a win at UFC 65 but this will not be enough to silence Herring.
Winner: Heath Herring

Scott: Heath Herring, did you not see the video? This should be more entertaining than a Tim Sylvia fight.
Winner: Heath Herring

Wade: Based on the clip I saw of Heath blasting the man who kissed him, and the fact that he has such a high win/loss record,
I'm going with him.
Winner: Heath Herring

Marcus: Heath Herring
Winner: Heath Herring

Euan: "And now, from the beautiful Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. IT'S TIIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE FOR OUR UFC MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING!" "PRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIDDE!"
Well, it appears that UFC and PRIDE are working together these days as now both Bruce Buffer and Crazy American PRIDE lady are announcing MMA shows.

Light Heavyweight Bout:
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=399
Rashad Evans (5:11, 205.5, 14-0-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=513
Sean Salmon (5:10, 206 9-1-0)

Last UFC Bout: At UFC 63 on 09/23/2006, Rashad Evans knocked out Jason Lambert. This will be the UFC debut of Sean Salmon.

Casey: It is hard for me to pick a man making his UFC debut especially when he is fighting someone I enjoy watching like Rashad. I realize I get burned on this from time to time, see MacDonald, Jason but I don’t see this as being one of those times. On another note related to this show we have a Salmon a Herring and a Fisher and that has to mean something though I’m not sure what. The only thing missing from the fish theme is “the Muscle Shark”. Also neither man has a nickname which makes it really hard to pick a favorite in that particular battle. I’m going to go with Rashad because Euan’s pick just makes good sense in the physical universe.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Art: Evans via TKO R2
Winner: Rashad Evans

Ric: Good wrestler against good wrestler. It's said that Salmon can also throw hands, which we also know Evans is capable of. Salmon tends to rely more on jiu-jitsu than straight wrestling, but that didn't help Stephan Bonnar's cause when he faced Evans. Evans' combo of size and experience will, in my view, be too much for Salmon to handle.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Euan: This is an easy fight to predict as Rashad Evans is on a 4 match winning streak and Sean Salmon is...well according to his profile 0 years old so he does not exist therefore he has already lost the fight by not appearing.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Scott: As time passes, you will figure out that I tend to pick guys with more experience in the Octagon even if it does come back to bite me in the ass, see MacDonald, Jason at UFC Tito Vs. Ken III.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Wade: From what I've seen, takedowns can be hard to counter. Add in Rashad's takedown defense and I think he's got this one.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Marcus: Rashad Evans
Winner: Rashad Evans

Casey: The OCC will have live round-by-round coverage of this show and I’m looking forward to this more than to any other sports entertainment that may have in the past aired on Thursday, may presently air on Thursday and be preempted or may in the future air on Thursday.
