Live Sacrifice PPV Results, New Champ??

Please credit Alan J. Wojcik of http://alanwojcik.com if used, thanks.

Happy mother’s day and welcome to the LIVE REPORT of the TNA Sacrifice PPV from Universal Studios in Orlando, FL. Special welcome to web guru Ms. Kendi and her friends from out of state. Too bad they won’t be able to cheer on The Naturals who were released. Unlike the Destination X and Lockdown PPV we didn’t see the pre-show as it was a replay of the Road to Sacrifice, hosted by Jeremy Borash and Christy Hemme. At least I think they did because Jeremy Borash came into the Impact Zone @ 735 to run down the card for the fans. Val and the new girl assisted a kangaroo character shoot t-shirts into the crowd. For what I believe is the first time ever, TNA’s website listed the exact order of the PPV matches. Note to those who chanted “Nashville Sucks,” before Orlando TNA was Nashville based and it was the Nashville crowd that got TNA on Fox Sports Net. Their fans were crushed when TNA left and you will feel the same way if TNA leaves Orlando for good. .

(1) In a three way match, World X Division champion “the Future” Chris Sabin defeated Sonjay Dutt and “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal.

Not only was Dutt’s right shoulder taped, he wore a mouth guard. During the opening minutes Sabin tired to start crap between Dutt and Lethal. It backfired and they took turns beating down the champion. At one point they dumped Sabin to the floor and a Lucha style match broke out. Dutt locked in a camel clutch and Sabin hit Lethal with a sling shot dropkick. Sabin wanted Dutt to do the same but Dutt dropkicked Sabin. The trio exchanged hard hitting moves that got the crowd on its feet but didn’t lead to a victory. Dutt went to the floor as Sabin tried to isolate Lethal but he too couldn’t pin the “Black Machismo” as Lethal fought back. Sabin went for another slingshot move but Dutt tripped him and it allowed Lethal to hit the double sledge to the floor. Dutt went back to the ring only to fly out onto the duo. Back in the ring Sabin’s top rope huricurana was blocked and Dutt went for a missile dropkick but Sabin sidestepped and Lethal got hit. Sabin recovered and hit Dutt with the Garvin Stomp (now that’s old school) and some punches. Lethal rejoined the match only be decked by a Sabin forearm which led to a leg lariat into Dutt’s face. Dutt nearly won the title after hitting Sabin with a legdrop on the ropes and hitting Lethal with a twist on the Thesz press. Sabin fired back with a double tree of woe in the corner which led to Dutt and Lethal getting kicks in their faces. Sabin hit Lethal with punches but Lethal hit a enziguri and went up for the elbow drop but Dutt broke up the pin. Dutt broke up a Lethal pin with a 450 splash but couldn’t get the pin on either man. Sabin snuck out with the title by shoving Dutt into Lethal and rolling up Dutt with a handful of ring pants. After the match Dutt and Lethal traded punches as Kevin Nash tried to be mediator. Dutt felt he had enough and kicked Nash in the back of the leg before retreating to higher ground.

Jeremy Borash spoke to Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks about the location of Eric Young and the shot at Jeff Jarrett. Roode said Young was not here and then claimed by beating Jarrett he would become a superstar and he would OWN Jarrett too. Nash called out Dutt on the mic, he said Thursday night Dutt’s ass was his. Take that as you wish. We saw backstage footage of VKM getting jumped by Basham and Damaja. They played the recap of how Jeff Jarrett went from losing the title to Sting and BFG to coming back with a plan to give back.

(2) Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks) defeated “King of the Mountain” Jeff Jarrett.

Amazing how these fans who booed the living crap of Jarrett now root for the founder of TNA. Roode jumped Jarrett during the introduction and the fight was on and around ringside over to the announce table. For the first time in months Jarrett looked like he was having fun in the ring as he beat Roode all over the place until Ms. Brooks brought the fight back to the floor where Roode got control after tossing Jarrett into the ring steps. With more help from Ms. Brooks choking Jarrett on the ropes. Roode kept control for several moments. Jarrett blocked a hip toss into a backslide for two but Roode got to his feet first to hit a clothesline for two. Roode’s top rope move met Jarrett’s boot instead of his upper body. Jarrett recovered to hit a power slam for two and traded sleeper holds with Roode. Roode escaped the sleeper into the Jarrett patented figure four putting the pressure on Roode who was aided by Ms. Brooks. Jarrett made the ropes but Roode kept control even mocking the Jarrett strut. Roode’s second attempt for the leg lock was countered into an inside cradle for two. Both men went for a clothesline and hit it in the middle of the ring. Both men got to their feet but Jarrett’s punches had more snap and so did the inverted atomic knee drop. Jarrett locked in the figure four and Ms. Brooks saved him by getting Andrew Thomas’ attention. Ms. Brooks took a tumble to the floor and Roode removed a turnbuckle pad which both men fought to avoid hitting. Roode dragged Jarrett to the ring post and then tossed a chair in the ring which ended up smacking him right in the head. Jarrett hit the Stroke but Brooks pulled the referee out. This time Andrew Thomas tossed Brooks out. Long enough for Roode to hit Jarrett with a chain wrapped right hand punch but not long enough to get the pin. Roode went to use Jarrett’s guitar but Thomas stopped that too. Jarrett went for the Stroke but Roode countered out and Jarrett countered into a figure four but Roode kicked Jarrett into the exposed buckle, using Jarrett’s momentum to get the pin. Roode went to use the guitar again but Jarrett got on the figure four. Brooks came back to hit Jarrett but Eric Young came out, locking her in a figure four.

Leticia Cline interviewed Team Cage about their matches tonight. Scott Steiner asked Cage where Tomko was and didn’t get a clear answer.

(3) “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels defeated “War Machine” Rhino.

Daniels continues to wear the Sting mask to the ring and carry the bat. It was obvious in the opening moments this was Rhino’s power against the technical and speed of Daniels. It was Rhino who got control with shoulder blocks and keeping it slowed down. Daniels went for a top rope move but Rhino caught him and hit a belly to belly suplex, setting up but not getting the GORE as Daniels slid out. Both men went to the floor where the punches continued and Rhino missed a plancha. Daniels used the guard rails to inflict damage to Rhino’s left arm and shoulder. Once back in the ring Daniels kept the attack going, using any move he could to do further damage to the injury. Rhino fought out of an armlock and fired in several chops with his good arm, getting a two count off a powerslam. Daniels kept on the arm with kicks and an STO for two but he couldn’t avoid a Rhino spinebuster for two. Just like Rhino couldn’t avoid Daniels who locked in the fujiarwa armbar submission. Daniels released the hold on his own and went for the BME but Rhino moved. Daniels made an error by stopping the forearms to Rhino’s head and going to the rope where Rhino hit a GORE for two. Daniels got the last move when he blasted Rhino in the head with the baseball bat to get the cover. After the match Rhino got the mic and told Daniels he didn’t come to lose or be cheated. He said he was going to kick Daniels ass. So he chased Daniels down the tunnel and when they came back up Daniels was a bloody mess after Rhino hit several chair shots (the chair had blood on it, just a guess). Rhino set up two chairs in the ring possibly for the Rhino Driver but TNA black shirt security hit the ring.

We saw a recap of Christy Hemme’s battle with the VKM and found out BG was in the hospital and Lance Hoyt wasn’t in the venue yet.

(4) Basham and Damaja (w/Christy Hemme) defeated Voodoo Kin Mafia Kip James.

Kip tried his best but in the end Damaja and Basham were too much for Kip James. Lance Hoyt came out to save Kip after the match.

A video recap played before the next match which is guaranteed to be painful. Leticia Cline spoke to “Wildcat” Chris Harris about the match, in which Harris said if Storm wanted to end AMW all he had to do was ask.

(5) In a Texas Death match, “Wildcat” Chris Harris defeated “Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm (w/ “Pride of Tennessee” Jacqueline Moore).

Funny thing about this match, to earn their jobs with TNA in 2002, Storm and Harris fought each other on a Music City Legends like show. To win you need to get a pin then have the opponent not answer a 10 count. The fight began on the floor as Harris baited Storm to come out and fight. They went into the crowd and all around the seating area which sent people running to avoid being hit. Harris grated Storm’s face on some fencing and tried to toss him off the top but Storm fought back as it led to them dragging each other around some more. Finally they came down and kept the fists a flying. Harris finally got in the ring and found one of Storm’s cold brews and had a swig before jumping off the top rope and into the crowd where Storm was just getting to hit feet. Harris got a pin but Storm beat the 10 second count, crawling back to the ring and the guard rails. Storm knocked Harris off the top and smashed his face with a chair which split open Harris. As Harris bled in the ring Storm went under the ring for a folding table and he wasn’t setting dinner up. Storm placed Harris on the turnbuckle but Harris blocked the move. Storm blocked the Scorpion Deathlock so Harris put him under the table and hit a sling shot like move which sent Storm’s head into the table, splitting him open. Storm blocked a suplex with a kick to the ribs and hit the Eye of the Storm into the folding table for the pin. Harris beat Rudy Charles’ count and the fight went was on again. Storm got another folding table from under the ring and set it up on the floor. The fight stayed in the ring as Harris escaped a power bomb into the table but not a DDT which allowed Storm to go shopping for more items at the weapons store. He pulled out a trash can and tossed it in the ring but he didn’t get in fast enough as Harris hit a spear which sent Storm crashing through the table on the floor. Moore broke up the pin attempt as Harris went to get another chair. Harris swung and missed giving Storm enough time to hit a superkick into the chair which went into the face for two. Harris absorbed several trash can shots and fired back with some of his own. By this point all of Storm’s face not covered by a beard was blood red. Moore saw an opening and went to handcuff Harris but Gail Kim came out and fought with Moore to the locker room. Storm thought he had the win with a beer bottle shot but Harris decked him first with the other bottle to get the pin and the win as Storm couldn’t get to his feet in time.

As the ring crew switched canvases, Jeremy Borash spoke to Sting about the main event. The cameras caught Christopher Daniels talking to Sting about the way Daniels had interpreted Sting’s message.

(6) In a “Four Corners” match, Jerry Lynn defeated Tiger Mask IV, Alex Shelley and Senshi

Last night Tiger Mask IV dropped the NWA World Jr. Heavyweight title to Mike Quackenbush. Senshi and Lynn began the bout trading mat moves but it went to move-counter move when Lynn hit an airplane spin-like move. Shelley tagged himself in to face Lynn after Senshi went to work on Lynn’s arm. Lynn countered several moves and tagged out to Tiger Mask. After mocking Tiger Mask, Shelley tagged in Senshi who went move for move with the legendary Japanese character. Senshi felt he needed a break so he tagged out to Lynn. Lynn was backed into the corner where Shelley tagged Tiger Mask to reenter the bout. Shelley went for a back suplex but Lynn countered out and tagged in Tiger Mask who went to work on the cocky Paparazzi member. Shelley stopped a top rope move and hit Tiger Mask with a jawbreaker. Tiger Mask returned the favor hitting Shelley with a top rope double underhook suplex. Senshi came and hit Tiger Mask with kicks as Shelley tagged out to Lynn who joined the battle. Lenny hit a spring board like move which sent Tiger Mask over but Senshi was in Tiger Mask’s waist lock hold so he got hit with a German suplex. Shelley recovered and missed a leg lariat but Lynn’s top rope move was stopped by Senshi and a kick to the head. Tiger Mask broke up a cradle piledriver and got tossed to the floor by Shelley. Shelley thought he had the win when they came off the top rope but Lynn rolled through the power bomb into a pin and the victory. But after the match Shelley and Chris Sabin attacked Lynn. He was saved by Mr. Bob Backlund who sent Sabin and Shelley in a retreat mode.

We had a video recap of how Team 3D got to the World Tag Team titles at Lockdown and who they would face tonight. Leticia spoke to Tomko about his issues with Scott Steiner, claiming Steiner thought the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor (someone has been watching National Lampoon’s Anima House.)

(7) World Tag Team champions Team 3D (Ray and Devon) defeated Tomko/“Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner and Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan on crutches)

Steiner and Homicide started out and it was not good for LAX as the strength was solely in Steiner’s favor. Ray made a blind tag and hit Steiner with a German suplex after leveling Homicide with a clothesline. Homicide tried to make peace with Steiner and for a second it worked as they attacked Ray. Ray fought back and got rid of Homicide with a kick to the face before tagging in Devon. Tomko finally tagged in to trade punches with Devon but a rope move led to a 3D powerslam. Hernandez made a blond tag and hit Tomko with a slingshot shoulder tackle but Devon hit him with the Thesz press. Homicide caught the attention of Rudy Charles and it worked long enough that Tomko/Steiner grabbed Devon’s legs and ragged his package into the ring post. LAX and Steiner/Tomko kept Devon from tagging out for several minutes but neither team could score the pin. At one point Hernandez came off the top with splash after blocking a Devon move for two. Tomko put Devon on the top rope but his move was countered into a Tornado DDT. LAX tried for a move but Devon ducked and tagged out to Ray. Actually all six men fought in the ring and the carnage was ended when Hernandez stopped 3D from getting the table. This left Steiner and Tomko with Homicide who ducked a Road Warrior clothesline, rolling up Steiner for two. Ray ended up in the ring with Steiner and Tomko but another move backfired and Tomko was hit with the 3D to see the champions retain. After the match Tomko and Steiner traded hated words and then punches which ended when “the Dogface Gremlin” Rick Steiner hit the ring and Tomko with punches!

Jeremy Borash spoke to Kurt Angle in the Sting interview area. Angle said the difference between himself and Sting was he didn’t need hocus pocus to win. He called Sting a cartoon character and the “gym teacher” was going to school Sting. A well done video package recapped the Styles/Joe saga.

(8) Samoa Joe defeated “the Phenomenal” AJ Styles.

These two picked up right where they left off several months ago, with hard hitting action. However Styles aggressive mood let Joe take control with a corner enziguri. Joe hit the back chop but Styles blocked the chest kick however Styles ended up on the floor. Joe wasted no time in hitting his tope’ to the floor which sent Styles over the guard rails. Styles blocked Joe’s suplex back in the ring but not Joe’s punches which sent Styles crashing to the floor. Joe tossed Styles into the ring as Styles claimed his shoulder came out of socket. Too bad for Joe Styles was gold bricking and he decked Joe. Joe fought back and again we went to the floor where Joe set up the Ole kick but Styles hit a discus clothesline. Styles tossed Joe in the ring where he hit a dropkick which sent sweat flying off Joes’s chest. Joe went for a move but Styles hit him in the head with a spinning heel kick for two. Joe fought back with punches and a German suplex which looked like it made Styles’ eyes got glassy for a moment. Styles ducked a Joe kick but not a release suplex, a senton bomb and powerslam for two. Styles slid of Joe’s shoulders and hit the Pele’ kick before hitting a springboard clothesline for two. Styles fought for it and finally hit the flip into the inverted DDT for two. Joe fought out of the Styles Clash and hit a DVD for two. Styles ducked a move and Joe went crashing to the floor where it looked like he injured his left knee. Somehow Joe beat Andrew Thomas’ count but his knee gave out when he went after Styles on a corner move. Styles went for and missed the Spiral Tap as Joe was gold bricking. Joe locked in the Kokina Clutch and hit the Muscle Buster to win.

A video package played highlighting the sacrifices the three men in the main event have made in their careers to get the World title in their possession. They played for the home audience some bullet points on the match before Jeremy Borash introduced the match.

(9) Kurt Angle became World Heavyweight champion when he defeated “Instant Classic” Christian Cage and Sting.

Cage’s mind games worked for a moment as Sting and Angle argued before the bell, but they joined to the goal of keeping Cage out of the ring. It worked as they beat each other up while Cage stood on the floor but Sting left Angle in the ring to get Cage. It backfired as Cage tossed Sting into the guard rail. But when Cage got in the ring he ran right into Angle. But Angle missed Cage ran into the ring post shoulder first. Cage tried to make peace with Sting but instead of turning the other cheek Sting spit in Cage’s face before attacking the champion. Sting hit Cage with a Stinger Splash but the second one was stopped by Angle who dragged Sting to the floor and hit a suplex on the rampway. Angle came back to the ring where Cage was waiting to work on the injured arm. Cage hit Angle with a move and went to the floor to keep Sting injured. Cage smacked Angle in his head and it fired up Angle who hit eight consecutive German suplexes but Cage kicked out of the pin. Sting made his way back and tossed Angle to the floor so he could cover Cage but he too got only two. Sting went for a superplex but Angle brought Sting an Cage off with a superplex of his own. The singlet came down as Angle went for the Olympic Slam but Cage countered into the Unprettier but Angle countered out. Sting sent Angle’s head into Cage’s package but Cage sent Rudy Charles to the floor. With Charles out of the match Angle locked Cage and Sting in the Ankle Lock but both men fought out. Sting dragged Charles in the ring but he walked right into Cage’s crotch shot. Sting pinned Cage but Kurt Angle made Sting tap out to the Ankle Lock. Referee Andrew Thomas only saw Sting tap out and Rudy Charles only saw Cage be pinned by Sting.

TNA Wrestling pulls its talent from Ring Of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla

By Art Shimko
shimko_7@hotmail.com

-- Figure 4 Weekly [www.f4wonline.com] reports today that TNA has pulled its talent from Ring Of Honor, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and other indy promotions that sell DVDs with TNA wrestlers' appearances. At press time ROH has not issued a statement regarding this matter and it's obvious and not a coincidence that TNA put their foot down once ROH announced a PPV deal yesterday. Now of course TNA has every right to do this as their wrestlers are contracted but it will be interesting to see how this will affect the indy landscape, promotions will have the opportunity to push newer faces on their shows but at the same time wrestlers like Alex Shelley, Samoa Joe, Homicide, Low-Ki, Christopher Daniels, etc. help draw more fans to indy shows plus these wrestlers have had long relationships with places like ROH, PWG, IWA-Mid South, JAPW, CZW and other promotions that will end effective immediately.

Below is a statement released on PWG's message board:

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ends agreement with TNA Wrestling
By Silverback, PWG Staff Writer

Los Angeles, CA - Generally, the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (http://www.prowrestlingguerrilla.com) news releases have been light-hearted yet informative, however that will not be the case on this occasion. Since our humble beginnings in July 2003, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has booked employees of TNA Wrestling to appear on our shows, in what can only be considered a successful relationship for all parties involved. Both companies experienced tremendous growth during this time period, admittedly with Pro Wrestling Guerrilla aided infinitely more so by TNA Wrestling than the other way around, and the relationship between the two companies has been affable. On April 24, 2007, TNA Wrestling presented Pro Wrestling Guerrilla with a contract that would prevent TNA Wrestling employees from appearing on DVDs sold through or distributed by any third parties. Because this would include long-time partner Highspots.com, as of May 3, 2007, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla has severed all ties with TNA Wrestling.

Since February 2004, Highspots.com has been a major contributor to the success of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, by helping us to increase the popularity of our company through Highspots.com production and distribution of our DVDs. Since TNA Wrestling presented us with the contract on April 24, we have considered every possible solution, from opting out of our contract with Highspots.com, self distribution of events featuring TNA Wrestling employees (both of which, to their credit, Highspots.com was agreeable with), to releasing DVDs without the matches of TNA Wrestling employees through Highspots.com. Each solution, except one, was either financially irresponsible, meant higher costs for the fans, or would greatly compromise the quality of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla as a whole. Therefore, we have been forced to end our business relationship indefinitely.

Because of this situation, TNA Wrestling employees Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley will not be appearing at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4 Tag Team Title Tournament on May 19 & 20. We at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla would like to apologize to Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, who along with Frankie Kazarian, were not simply employees, but part of the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla family. We would also like to apologize to Samoa Joe, Low Ki, AJ Styles, and Christopher Daniels, whom we had booked for upcoming Pro Wrestling Guerrilla events. We would also like to thank Homicide, Austin Aries, Petey Williams, and all those previously mentioned for their hard work and professionalism as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla wrestlers.

And most importantly, we would like to apologize to our fans, who have come to enjoy seeing TNA employees both at our live events and on our DVDs. Your appreciation and support gave the TNA employees a chance to wrestle at a level they often time are unable to. We hope you can understand that this was not an easy decision to make, but we did what we feel was best for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla now, and in the future. Later today, we will provide updated information regarding the DDT4 Tag Team Title Tournament, including the last team, more non-tournament matches, and the final DDT4 first round matches!

AS I SEE IT 4/30: The New WWECW champion...and giving it all away

AS I SEE IT
Bob Magee
Pro Wrestling: Between the Sheets
PWBTS.com

Vince McMahon as WWECW Champion (I refuse to refer to it by the name he does...period). No wonder my eyes are all red, and my nose is running this Monday morning as I add this paragraph. I'm having an allergic reaction to egotistical booking...or is it pollen? My bet says egotistical booking.

Menawhile, in Orlando....Think about it...coming off of their last PPV, Sting vs. Kurt Angle as the Main Event, a dream match for many mainstream fans...what were the ratings for this IMPACT?

1.0.

With Vince suffering a dip in post-Wrestlemania RAW and Smackdown ratings, TNA had an opportunity to reach outto fans and proved again their ratings are stuck at 25% of WWE's.... at 1.0.

If you want further proof of the mood within TNA, witness this comment from a well-known TNA figure who was at an independent booking a couple of weeks ago. A PWBTS writer, who hadn't seen IMPACT in a few weeks, asked this performer who [they] worked with in TNA. [The worker]asked our writer "Don't you watch the show?" The writer answered "No". [The worker] responded with "Ehhh, nobody else does either".

Nice to see how TNA wound up Christopher Daniels, who finished up with Ring of Honor this past Saturday in Chicago Ridge, IL. Ring of Honor played off of it by having him cut a heel promo by praising TNA and "quit" Ring of Honor, claiming in the promo that he wished he never had returned to the company after TNA pulled him following the last time they had attacks of jealousy over Ring of Honor (but blamed it on the Rob Feinstein incident).

Just gives fans one more thing to be pissed off at TNA about, and I don't mean in storyline. It is sort of amusing that Gabe Sapolsky did the windup heeling out someone who's going to TNA, and claiming they're going for the money.

> From Anthony Gonzalez from Lawton, Oklahoma :

"' how dare u insult tna u dumb mark. stfu already. at least they put on great performances and have great storylines.'

Wow what am I saying? TNA fans are very oblivious to the truth. Let me just start of by saying how great of a job you have been doing in writing your columns. Every time I ready, I feel myself agreeing to everything you have to say about TNA.

It is a shame to see TNA fans think that their company is not letting them down. It was the head honchos in TNA who called them WWE employees on the WWE's payroll. Though, it is hard to convince them what is going on because they are very emotionally stuck to TNA. I watched TNA last week, and I had to ask myself, "'hy do people even bother watching this crap when they know it is going to suck.'

Judging by the comment by the TNA worker above and the 1.0 rating, apparently not that many.

"One of my main problems though with TNA fans is that they say TNA uses young talent. My God please help me, look at the main event at lockdown. 3 out of the 10 guys from the main event were actual fresh talent from TNA. The rest were either from the old WWE, WCW, or ECW. Also, look who got the pin in the main event, Sting..................again.

I would continue on, but I think I have vented enough of my anger for now. Keep up the good work, and don't let those TNA 'fans' get to you".

TNA isn't using its main strength...the X division...as anything but comedy straight men for Kevin Nash. The fact is that not that many people wanted to see even Angle vs. Sting. If TNA hadn't spayed and neutered its X division, they could have gone back to them. It'll be hard to go back to them after they've been busy playing Randy Savage

> From Lucas:

"Hey, Bob. I read all the columns on this site, but yours seems to draw the most fire from TNA loyalists, some with deranged fury, but I'm here to defend what you're saying about the company that continues to spin its wheels. I'm going to make a bold statement right off the bat, and this goes for each and every wrestling fan out there. People who love TNA, people who bash TNA, people who work for TNA, and people who don't. NOBODY WISHES TO SEE TNA DO BADLY! I certainly don't. If TNA sank it would be bad for the wrestling industry as a whole. Even WWE has to recognize this, they have to know that the wrestling industry is on the downslide and is not in the public eye as it once was. Being the only game in town would only hurt the business. Competition is great for the WWE, TNA, everybody.

But then again I'm not one of these hypnotized TNA loyalists who you know all too well in ranting, raving emails. They bow at the altar of TNA and sing its praises no matter how badly they know it is in the back of their minds, attacking anyone who says otherwise, denouncing them as being on the WWE payroll.

I watch Impact every week and, I don't know about those angry emailers, but I don't make a habit of pointing at a dog turd and calling it a diamond ring, no matter how much I want it to be a diamond ring it's still crap. I read the emails sent to you saying that TNA is week in and week out the best wrestling program they've ever seen in their lives and all I can do is stare at the screen and say 'What show are you watching?!' They can't be watching the same show I am, because the one I see is so rushed they can't establish anything.

I keep reading articles, reports, magazines that always say so-and-so's going to make the jump to TNA, this wrestler, that wrestler. At any one time about a dozen wrestlers are supposed to be or are thinking about making the jump. I even read a magazine where the cover had Paul Heyman, Sabu, RVD, Lita, and a few others with the question WILL PAUL HEYMAN LEAD AN ARMY TO TNA? That'd be a lot at one time.

One glaring question keep leaping out at me whenever to read about something like that. Where is TNA supposed to get the money for all these people? Last I heard TNA is hemmoraging money right and left, losing money on PPV's, hovering over going out of business with every passing month. And now they're supposed to double their roster?! And where in their one hour program are they supposed to fit these wrestlers in? The show's rushed enough as it is. What, are the matches going to be two minutes long now? Are there going to be ten wrestlers in each match? I'd love an answer to this.

Thanks for lending an ear, Bob. Keep leading the good fight against, not necessarily TNA, but against crappy wrestling. It's not your fault that that's where it all seems to be coming from these days. Now where's my paycheck?

Heh. Yours is coming about the same I get my first from WWE. I'm still waiting. Vince, are you listening?

> From "The Wrestling Follower":

"The only disagreements with your previous TNA columns have been from nuts who refuse to or are unable to see the big picture. TNA was built off of the backs of wrestlers who made their names elsewhere. Abyss is the only exception I could think of, but he developed in NWA Wildside as Prince Justice.

Austin Aries made his name in Milwaukee indies and later, Ring Of Honor ironically by pinning Samoa Joe for the title. Do I need to name the rest? Styles, Lethal, Shelley, Sabin, Daniels, Rhino, Cage, Steiner, Angle, Nash, etc. I think the issue is freedom of expression with this newest story....

...ROH isn't invading Orlando any time soon, so what exactly is it that they are afraid of??? I love how ROH takes the high road. The Samoa Joe Farewell tour was the answer to TNA's decision earlier this year. Maybe Aries should beat Morishima for the title and become 2 time champion to show that they support him."

Well, that didn't happen...nor was there any real chance of it happening given Ring of Honor's tour in Japan; and their desire to have the belt on Morishima at least until then. At that point and after what I suspect will be some matches with KENTA and Marifuji on the tour, they can start a program that will eventually put the belt back on Bryan Danielson.

Since TNA hasn't given in and given fans what they want as of yet...If you feel that TNA is acting in a manner contrary to what you want them to do...just like any other company...with any other product... let TNA know that you'll no longer be spending the money you used to spend on TNA products; and will now be spending that money on Ring of Honor DVDs, live shows, and other revenue sources for that company.

To contact parties concerned:

Contact TNA to express your thoughts on this matter at http://www.tnawrestling.com/contact/index.html. Make clear to them that you will also be contacting Spike TV and Universal Studios.

Contact Spike TV at their feedback site at http://www.spiketv.com/interact/feedback/feedback.jhtml

* Salil Gulati/Spike TV - 212-767-8705 salil.gulati@spiketv.com

Point out to them, as has been said before, that NWA-TNA needs Ring Of Honor's fan base to survive. and that those online and smart mark fans that have kept them alive until they were supported by their current backers. Without that fan base, they might well not survive.

You can also contact NWA-TNA via snail mail at TNA Wrestling, 209 10th Avenue South - Suite 302 Nashville, TN 37203.

If you use the snail mail method, send TNA copies of your recent cable bills that show you are now ordering their PPVs. Remind them that they will be losing a customer starting with their February 11 PPV.

PRO WRESTLING: BIG ASS THURSDAY UPDATE~! 4/26/07

    By Art Shimko
    shimko_7@hotmail.com

-- Tons of news and notes from the past week...

    WWE
-- This weekend Steve Austin's upcoming action flick The Condemned will be in theaters, he appeared on Howard Stern and did a live text chat Monday night. Lots of reviews are in for The Condemned and it's a mixed bag of opinions although not many are in favor of the movie, here's a sample:
    - Originality is loser in WWE’s death match
    - Movie 'condemns' audience to torturous viewing
    - Two middle fingers up for The Condemned
    - WWE star has something new to prove in 'The Condemned'
    - Stone Cold Heats Up
    - Bottom Line: D-grade "Running Man" ripoff

-- Here's an Austin interview on Sports Illustrated's site.

-- Last week WWE dropped Deep South Wrestling as a developmental territory after reports that the operation was in complete disarray. Vince McMahon had a shit-fit about the situation and decided to drop all developmental territories including Ohio Valley Wrestling. Fortunately McMahon was talked out of dropping OVW and it looks like all DSW trainees will be shipped to Steve Keirn's school in Florida. Meanwhile, Jody Hamilton has decided to shut down the DSW promotion.

-- Randy Orton's acting like a rock star these days... or more like an asshole. Orton was sent home last week from the European tour after he trashed a hotel room, the estimated damages were said to be between $30,000-$50,000. Man, this guy must've been going through a (supposed) roid rage or something. Orton has not been suspended as of yet although he was fined and it looks like he'll certainly do the job this weekend at Backlash in a four-way for the WWE title which could be one of many jobs he'll be doing for some time. With Vince paranoid about firing talent and ending up on TNA it looks as if Orton is secure in WWE... for the time being. [source for info on last two items: Figure 4 Weekly newsletter www.f4wonline.com]

-- Speaking of Backlash, Casey, Euan and myself did a preview podcast for this mundance PPV. Casey and I also discuss current news in the MMA world.

-- An interview with Vince McMahon about pay-per-view business.

-- WWE will be releasing a 2-DVD "Ladder Match" set, you can see the match listing here.

-- Batista left quite the impression with fans at an autograph session in Wolverhampton, England. Batista was said to be jet-lagged and what would normally be a two-hour session was cut to an hour. One youngster had anticipated meeting the former world and tag champ but instead was disappointed afterwards, his father stated: “Kyle got a ticket and couldn’t sleep the night before, he was so excited at meeting Batista and he had the afternoon off school. All his mates were telling him how jealous they were. “But when he got there we were told Batista would only be signing WWE merchandise. We queued for nearly two hours and he signed a WWE book, didn’t even look at him or say a word and that was it. His mum was trying to take a picture of the two on the mobile phone but his bouncers kept standing in the way to stop it. “And he refused to sign a birthday card that Kyle had taken in because it is his birthday in three weeks. “I think it is absolutely disgraceful for a man who is loved by so many kids to behave like this. We go down to the Wolves training ground all the time and they can’t do enough for us. If they can make the effort I don’t see why a jumped-up bloke in tights can’t do the the same. Kyle couldn’t stop crying.”

-- On Tuesday Mickie James won the Women's title at a house show in Paris against Melina and Victoria when she pinned Victoria for the win. Apparently Victoria didn't kick out on the three-count as she was supposed to, and a few matches later Melina won the title back from Mickie. Surprisingly, WWE made note of the title switch.

-- Super Crazy was injured at a weekend show in Oberhausen, Germany during a tag match. "Super Crazy landed awkwardly and twisted his knee during a match," said Dr. Ferdinand Rios. "I agree with the trainer's original assessment that Super Crazy has a torn ligament in his left knee. We aren't sure if he tore his ACL or MCL so we have scheduled an MRI for later this week.

-- Cade and Murdoch shoot... or maybe work-shoot on internet fans... do these clowns even get internet access in their trailers?

-- Balls Mahoney will be appearing on Sci Fi Channel's Who Wants to Be a Superhero? this summer as he will help critique and inspire these costumed crusaders in their battles with the show’s villain, Dr. Dark.

-- Philadelphia police officer Shawn Goodstone has been suspended and will lose his job for stealing two WWE action figures from a Rite Aid in West Kensington last month.

-- WWE is suing Dale Gagne who runs shows under the AWA banner for copyright infringement. WWE purchased AWA trademarks from Verne Gagne in 2003, WWE also cites that Dale Gagne (real name: Gagner) dropped the "R" from his last name in order to allegedly make like he was related to former AWA promoter Verne Gagne. You can read Dale's response to the suit here.

-- WWE will be reporting its first quarter earnings in a conference call on 5/3 at 11AM EST, participants can call 800-894-5910 (conference ID: WWE).

-- J.R.’s Back With Plenty to Say!

-- Flair is taking fight with money manager to court

-- Divas shine in Jared Gold’s designs

-- Michelle McCool measures up her competition

    TNA/ROH/CZW/INDIES
-- Sean Christopher Haire, who got punched out during a scuffle in front of a Hilton Head Island bar last month, was charged on Monday with felony high and aggravated assault and battery. Juan Hamilton Brantley, the guy who punched Haire in the eye, was also arrested for the same charges, both men remain in the Beaufort County Detention Center. Capt. Toby McSwain of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office stated, "It's a little surprising that the court has issued warrants to both of them, but I guess the judge listened to both sides of the story and couldn't determine who the primary aggressor was."

-- Alex Marvez's lastest column on "Dr. Death" Steve Williams.

-- A card for the Hogan/Wight Memphis show on Friday was finally released.

-- Two-time NASCAR champ Tony Stewart recently compared his sport to pro wrestling on his Sirius Satellite Radio Tuesday night when discussing how NASCAR officials use bogus caution flags to fix races: "It's like playing God," he said on his Sirius Satellite Radio program. "They can almost dictate the race instead of the drivers doing it. It's happened too many times this year." Stewart, who said he was fighting a fever and left the two-hour show early, went on to say fans are complaining about debris cautions and NASCAR isn't listening. "I guess NASCAR thinks, 'Hey, wrestling worked, and it was for the most part staged, so I guess it's going to work in racing, too,'" he said. "I can't understand how long the fans are going to let NASCAR treat them like they're stupid before the fans finally turn on NASCAR. "I don't know that they've run a fair race all year." NASCAR's response: "NASCAR has been running races since 1948, and we place the safety of the drivers at the top of the list," spokesman Jim Hunter said. "We have more people and more resources than ever officiating our races. The safety of the drivers is our first priority. It has always been that way and will continue to be that way.

-- Footage of Christian Cage against Abyss from last year's TNA Lockdown PPV was shown on this week's episode of FOX's House.

-- Austin Starr has been suspended from TNA for 90 days after he questioned the reason for filming a vignette on his day off. After arguing and pressing the issue, Starr eventually cooperated and agreed to filmed the vignettes but TNA was so annoyed with his attitude that they laid down the law making an example out of Starr by sending him home. [source: Figure 4 Weekly newsletter www.f4wonline.com]

    ======================================================

*Jay started off the interview by answering Mosh's first question about what is his response to anyone who comes up to him with the words "Black Machismo." A simple response we will be hearing more of in the weeks & months to come..."O yeah!!!!!"

*He is very excited about the character change, especially with the more television time he has been receiving. Jay has been following Kevin Nash's words of "playing the race card."

*He has not had the chance to meet Randy Savage yet, but he hopes that if he would run into "The Macho Man" down the road, that he would see his Savage impersonation as a tribute & a sign of respect.

*Along with the rest of TNA's roster/crew, Jay is looking forward to being a part of this weekend's Lockdown festivities. With heading to St. Louis (as well as other recent & future new areas for the company), Jay summed it up best: "The people outside of Florida have been begging for us to come there."

*In what many are calling the "dark horse match of TNA Lockdown," Jay has a chance to capture his first X-Division Championship, in the Xscape Match (vs. Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley vs. Shark Boy vs. Sonjay Dutt). He feels that the Six Sides Of Steel will add a new element to the contest, his second-ever cage match in TNA. "There's no way to train for this kind of match."

*Jay credits Kevin Nash for him being where he is in currently in the company. "The Paparazzi Idol skit was huge for me, and now I'm on television every week." Nash is all about helping to get the X-Division over & to a new level. He would also have no problems defending the X-Division Championship against "Big Sexy" if he comes out on top this Sunday night.

*TNA is heading back to where it all began -- Nashville, TN -- this upcoming June for Slammiversary, Total Nonstop Action's five-year anniversary show. Before looking forward to this event in "Music City," Jay wished to look back at his favorite moments in his time in TNA history: which included competing against Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, as well as taking on "The Samoan Submission Machine," Samoa Joe for the first time in the six-sided ring.

*If you did not have a chance to check out Jay's entrance into the TNA Impact Zone this past Thursday night on iMPACT, Jay encourages all fans to stay tuned for more "madness from Black Machismo."

*An absolutely hilarious 40+ minute interview, with "Black Machismo," covering plenty of additional topics (including whether or not he will be competing in future Ring Of Honor events in 2007 & beyond, the insanity of certain wrestling fans, WrestleMania weekend vs. Lockdown weekend, what he does outside of the ring, & plenty more -- which can be head here: (www.mondaynightmayhemarchives.com/waxfiles/040907.wax: streaming & http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/mondaynightmayhem/~3/108308325/040907.mp3: MNM podcast).

TNA House Show results 4/13 Springfield, MO [Gerweck.net]

    -- Courtesy of www.gerweck.net:

    from Doug Wellox:

I attended last night's TNA house show in Springfield, MO. I would guess the attendance to have been somewhere in the area of around 1,500. The crowd was super hot 90% of the night.

    1. Eric Young beat Alex Shelley. Young was pretty over while Shelley got a mixed reaction. There were tons of good comedy spots in this one.

    2. Two local guys I don't know beat two more local guys I don't know. A huge boring chant brokeout half way through the match which was followed by a "We don't know you" chant.

    3. Chris Sabin won a 4 way to retain his X belt. Lethal was over huge doing his new Savage gimmick. The crowd was super into him. Senshi got little to no reaction at all, Sabin got a mixed one and Dutt was mostly cheered but not all that much. Everytime Lethal would do a Savage move or pose the crowd popped huge. Senshi eliminated Dutt, Lethal eliminated Senshi and then Sabin eliminated Lethal which got a ton of crowd heat. Overall it was a very good match and maybe the bext of the show.

    4. Team 3D beat VKM. This to me was the worst match of the show. Team 3D got a decent pop when they came out while VKM was mostly booed. There was a boring chant during this as well.

    5. Rhino beat AJ Styles in a no dq match. They brawled all over the place. It was kept short though. An ECW chant started which led to Rhino taking the mic and saying "Fuck ECW". Rhino got a nice pop while Styles got a mixed reaction.

    6. Chris Harris & Gail Kim beat James Storm & Jackie. This wasn't all that good but the crowd was into it chanting tons of gay slanders at Storm.

    7. Samoa Joe beat Abyss. This was good but kept short. I would say it lasted around 8 minutes or so. Joe was very over and Abyss got a mixed reaction.

    8. Christian Cage beat Kurt Angle to keep his NWA title. This was pretty good. Christian got a mixed reaction while Angle was very over as a face. Steiner who was supposed to wrestle tonight got invloved in this match quite a bit. Styles got invloved as well which led to the demise of Angle in the match.

Overall I had a very good time. I enjoyed the show much more than the last WWE house show I attended in 2006.

    MIXED MARTIAL ARTS NEWS
-- A post-fight piss test revealed that Melvin Guillard tested positive for cocaine following his 4/5 Fight Night match with Joe Stevenson. This is just plain fucking stupid. So far we've seen two stoners compete in MMA, guys who don't make weight three months before a title fight and don't make weight for a TV show where 155-pounders are competing and guys doing blow before their matches... recreation is great and all, but god damn these guys know they have a fight coming up and that the commission tests for drugs or that they MUST make weight for a fight... like Ric James said, "that cocaine is a helluva drug!"

-- In a CBS Sportsline interview with Brock Lesnar, when asked how Kurt Angle would do in MMA, he replies: I think Kurt would do rather well in the 205 category, but I think father time has caught up to him rather quickly because of the demand of professional wrestling and what he gave to professional wrestling, and what he gave his body to. I think that he might have a couple of fights in him but ... poor guy, he's given his life and his heart, mind, and soul to be a professional wrestler and he's hurt himself.
Lesnar's spent the last 10 months training and between 265-270lbs., he's trained with Pat Miletich and currently trains at Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts Academy. As far as training with Royce Gracie Lesnar says their schedules are unable to accomodate time to train together but maybe after the K-1 6/2 event at the L.A Coliseum they'll get to train. Lesnar confirms that his K-1 contract is for one fight only and says that Vince McMahon attempted to arrange Lesnar and Kurt Angle to have individual fights with Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson but the boxers nixed that idea.

-- Dana White loves Canada~! "Canada's been a phenomenal breakthrough market for us, the sleeper market," White told The Canadian Press in an interview. "When we were looking at this thing, when we first purchased it, we had no idea that Canada would become so huge."

-- Matt Serra talks about his recent win against Georges St. Pierre and has some words about Matt Hughes in this video interview.

-- Serra on rise in UFC after stunning St. Pierre

-- Here's an article on Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou; Prior to Sokoudjou's recent victories in Pride over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ricardo Arona he fought just three times for the Total Combat promotion in San Diego and Sportfight in Portland, OR. Sokoudjou arrived in the States six years ago to train for Olympic judo competition when he met Pride Middleweight and Welterweight Champion Dan Henderson as he was training to fight judo practitioner Kazuhiro Nakamura. From there Sokoudjou got into MMA but admits the transition wasn't so smooth: "I thought it would be easy, but it was really hard for me to kind of understand that judo and mixed martial arts are two different things," he said. "I thought, 'I know judo so I can go ahead and judo everybody." Sokoudjou has modest aspirations in this sport: "I would love to say I'm going to get a bunch of belts. Lots of people out there have a bunch of belts, but they suck," he added. "My goal is to put on a good show and make sure everyone who comes and watches me fight is always satisfied."

-- From the IFL: The International Fight League (OTC.BB: IFLI), the world’s first team-based professional mixed martial arts league, and USA Wrestling, the National Governing Body for wrestling in the United States, today announced a strategic partnership between the two organizations aimed at increasing the awareness level and creating unique grassroots programs and branding opportunities for both groups. “This is a great day for the IFL and for the sports of Mixed Martial Arts and wrestling,” said IFL Commissioner and Co-Founder Kurt Otto.“This partnership will give us the platform to reach a very passionate demo with one of the most respected National Governing Bodies. This cooperative program will help us further our mission to expose these great IFL athletes to a larger audience and show how they can use their wrestling skills as part of MMA.”
