CARE Preview UFC 70 Nations Collide

Download this episode (40.24 MB)

Join the CARE team as we "preview" UFC 70 'Nations Collide'

Join us as we savage fighters for their failed drug tests and give them possible defenses for their hearing with the NSAC, yes Melvin Guillard, this means you. Speaking of savaging, Euan takes shots at a TNA Knockout while the rest of CARE take shots at Euan. After this, if you get a dinner invitation from the Wandering one: "Just say No!"

Food is a hot topic as Ric Gillespie reveals who makes good breakfast in bed, and we find an MMA fighter who needs his own cooking show.

We discuss Andrei Arlovski's new sponsor and how to best work that in to his fights. On a possibly related note, there is fun with Wikipedia!

Art Shimko debuts his new segment called: "The drugs I've done and the people I've done them with", and all of the guys beg for new sponsors of the show.

All that, and a whole lot more, plus in our 60 minutes of audio laughter, we provide 3 full minutes of actual analysis of the UFC 70 card! This is maybe the funniest show we've ever done, and definitely the funniest MMA Podcast you'll ever hear.

CARE/other vuz-vuz-vuz Jabronis preview: UFC Fight Night Live 8

Fight Night Live

UFC Fight Night Live 8
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, FL

Casey: I’m glad to see the first UFC event of the year as I am by far and away more interested in UFC than anything being done in professional wrestling. I’d also like to note that the advantage of putting this preview together is that I get to see before most that Euan’s comments for this show are so awesome. One last pressing question I must ask. If Vladimir Kozlov were interviewed at this show, would he say: “I love Ubble-fubble-c”?

Euan: UFC Fight Night is upon us which signals the beginning of a few very busy weeks of MMA and wrestling so let's see what Dana has planned for us. I must thank Casey "the most black brother in the vold" for supplying me with the links to the profiles of each fighter which will influence my predictions and of course the EuTube index will be used for matches where i cannot decide on a winner or if i'm feeling lazy.

Wade: I haven't watched much UFC yet so I will be basing my picks on the fighters win/loss record and/or their strengths.

Scott: I’m making my UFC picks debut for this show. I’m not as educated on who these fighters are as some of my other compatriots, but I make up for it with a willingness to guess and flip coins if need be.

Prediction Tracking:
This is the first UFC event of the year and the first MMA event overall. As a result there is nothing for this specific company in th way of stats yet but we can still look at the overall…

Marcus: 1 event, 6 wins with 2 losses for 75%
Casey: 2 Events, 6 wins with 9 losses for 40%
Ric: 2 events, 6 wins with 9 losses for 40%
Art: 2 Events, 4 wins with 10 losses for 28.5%
Euan: 2 Events, 3 wins with 10 losses for 23.1%
Scott: 1 event, 3 wins with 5 losses for 37.5%
Wade: 1 event, 3 wins with 5 losses for 37.5%

Welterweight Bout: (Dark)
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=454
Ross “The Gladiator” Pointon (5:8, 168.5, 4-8-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=288
Rich “No Love” Clementi (5:9, 169.5, 22-6-0)

Last UFC Bout: Rich Clementi lost to Din Thomas via submission at the Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale on 11/11/2006. Ross Pointon lost to Rory Singer on the Ultimate Fighter 3 Finale on 06/24/2006.

Casey: This is a tough fight to call for me. Looking things over, the experience edge lies with Clementi. Looking at the 2 nicknames which I think is always a key to the fight as if your nickname is stupid enough you can get your opponent to start laughing during ring intros and next thing you know he’s tired and falls victim to your offense. I call this the “Ken flo” theory. So in that battle which is close I give the slight edge to “The Gladiator” as while they’re both fine nicknames, Clementi’s suggests childhood horrors more than it does tougher fighter. However, they are both coming off of losses in their last fights. The nickname theory not withstanding, I don’t have as good a reason as Euan does for why I’m going this direction, but…
Winner: Ross Pointon

Art: Clementi via TKO R1
Winner: Rich Clementi

Ric: After losing this one, will Pointon drop to lightweight?
Winner: Rich Clementi

Euan: I am going to pick Ross Pointon to win this fight for two reasons: he is British and i have to support my own country and when asked if he had any heroes he answered "Myself". A great man.
Winner: Ross Pointon

Scott: I’m going to give this to Clementi based on experience.
Winner: Rich Clementi

Wade: Both men have lost their recent fights so I'm sure both are wanting a win. I think Rich will come out on top.
Winner: Rich Clementi

Marcus: Rich Clementi to win.
Winner: Rich Clementi

Lightweight Bout: (Dark)
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=494
Clay “The Carpenter” Guida (5:7, 154, 21-3-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=20
Din “DinYero” Thomas (5:9, 154.5, 21-7-0)

Last UFC Bout: Din Thomas defeated Rich Clementi via submission on the Ultimate Fighter 4 Finale on 11/11/2006. Clay Guida defeated Justin James via submission at UFC 64 on 10/14/2006.

Casey: In this lightweight bout you have 2 fighters coming off of victories in their last fight. You also have “The Carpenter” Vs. “DinYero” which even though I don’t really know what a “DinYero” is supposed to be, the “Carpenter” suggests he has another career in mind should fighting not work out. I took the youth in the last fight so by my horrible logic its time to go with a man who has more UFC experience in this one.
Winner: Din Thomas

Art: Guida via submission R2
Winner: Clay Guida

Ric: I see this going a lot like Thomas' recent fight against Rich Clementi, with the same result of a win for Thomas.
Winner: Din Thomas

Euan: If you do anything today, you have to go and look at Guida's UFC profile and check out the first picture in his photo gallery. He looks like he just shit himself live on PPV and i laughed heartily. So for providing laughs, i will predict Guida to defeat Thomas.
Winner: Clay Guida

Scott: During this fight I am going to employ my brilliant strategy and predict the winner by guessing.
Winner: Clay Guida

Wade: I'm going with Clay here based on his strengths.
Winner: Clay Guida

Marcus: Clay Guida to win.
Winner: Clay Guida

Middleweight Bout: (Dark)
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=447
Ed “Short Fuse” Herman (6:2, 186, 13-4-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=487
Chris “The Exorcist” Price (6:3, 192, 8-1-0)

Last UFC Bout: Ed Herman lost via submission to Jason MacDonald at “Ortiz Vs. Shamrock III the Final Chapter”, on 10/10/2006. Chris Price lost to Kendal Grove at “Ortiz Vs. Shamrock III the Final Chapter” on 10/10/2006 via submission.

Casey: Ed Herman is on a 2-fight losing streak inside the Octagon. Both of these men lost their last fight, I saw both of those fights and neither of them looked more impressive in defeat than did the other. I think that Herman really needs to win this fight in order to be something as if he loses a third fight in a row he’d just be better off changing his name to Herman Munster. In the vaunted nickname battle “The Exorcist” Vs. “Short Fuse”, you do have to give that to Chris Price. Yeah, it also suggests that he like Clay Guida before him has another career in mind but I think it takes 1 tough man to perform exorcisms. Although, if you had “Short fuse” doing that job then he could just get pissed at the demon possessed man and knock him out.
If that is not enough to convince you that Chris Price is in for a humbling, perhaps this note found at the bottom of the UFC.com weigh-in story will do the trick?
* Herman agreed to face Price despite the Indiana fighter being seven pounds over the middleweight limit of 185 pounds. When Price thanked Herman for still
agreeing to fight, “Short Fuse” responded, “You weren’t getting off that easy.” I give this quote about a hundred thumbs up.
Winner: Ed Herman

Art: Herman via TKO R2
Winner: Ed Herman

Ric: I don't think Herman should have much trouble winning this one, which (stylistically) will probably look almost exactly like
Kendall Grove's recent victory over Price.
Winner: Ed Herman

Euan: Herman is attempting to recover from the humbling he suffered at the hands of at the time newcomer Jason MacDonald and in my opinion if he wants to find himself fighting on the PPV again, he must defeat "The Exorcist" Chris Price. I decided to check and see if Mr. Price was indeed a practicing priest and in doing so determine if he is worthy of the nickname "The Exorcist"...well i found Chris Price and well he isn't a priest or American for that fact. He is actually from Wales, don't believe me well here is a link to prove so
http://users.aber.ac.uk/cjp/.
So for being a liar and Welsh, Ed Herman is my choice.
Winner: Ed Herman

Scott: Ed Herman will win, because he is a red head and you don’t piss off red heads.
Winner: Ed Herman

Wade: This fight is elementary given what Herman said at the weigh in. He's very confident and that's always a good thing.
Winner: Ed Herman

Marcus: Ed Herman to win.
Winner: Ed Herman

Welterweight Bout: (Dark)
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=518
Chad “The Grinder” Reiner (5:11, 171, 13-1-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=400
“The People’s Warrior” Josh Burkman (5:10, 171, 18-3-0)

Last UFC Bout: This is Chad Reiner’s UFC Debut. Josh Burkman was victorious at UFC 61 on 07/08/2006 by a Unanimous decision over Josh Neer.

Casey: As this is Reiner’s debut I really don’t know all that much about him or his style, only what I was able to glean from his UFC profile. His nickname makes me think porn star more than fighter though. On the otherhand, Josh Burkman’s last fight was the best on a truly horrific show which isn’t saying much. As for his nickname, “The People’s Warrior” makes me wonder when we hold elections for offices like this and how a campaign for this would work. I invision an election for the position of “People’s Warrior” to contain phrases like “If Elected, I pledge that Pilliging will rise 200% over the last fiscal year while raping will increase by a staggering 500% over that same approximate time”. However, we must not forget that as he is a Warrior, Burkman must also be a believer in distrusity and we all know that distrusity has the power to get you WWE Championship reigns you don’t deserve and wrestling contracts even after you fuck up repeatedly. If distrusity can do that for a man The Grinder doesn’t have a chance.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Art: Reiner via submission R3
Winner: Chad Reiner

Ric: Reiner favors a submission-based style, which is something of a weakness of Burkman's. Still, Burkman's edge in wrestling
and overall experience, should be his ticket to a win.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Euan: This is Reiner's UFC debut and i'm afraid to say it's going to be a long night going in against "The People's Champio...Warrior" Josh Burkman. From his interview with UFC.com it is clear that Burkman is a simple man as when asked what his favorite technique was he answered "punching people in the face". Providing he actually punches his opponent and not merely brush against him like Nick fucking Diaz who somehow got himself booked on the upcoming PRIDE show in February, he will win this fight. I can only pray that Diaz is put against Takanori Gomi so i can watch Diaz get the fuck knocked out of him.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Scott: Once again, back to the strategy of taking a guess.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Wade: Burkman has actually had some matches in UFC already so he knows his way around the octagon.
Winner: Josh Burkman

Marcus: Chad “The Grinder” Reiner, yeah I’m the only one so far.
Winner: Chad Reiner

Middleweight Bout: (Dark)
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=437
Dean “The Boogeyman” Lister (6:1, 185, 9-4-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=370
Nate “The Great” Marquardt (6:0, 185.5, 27-6-1)

Last UFC Bout: On 08/17/2006 Dean Lister defeated Yuki Sasaki by Unanimous decision at Fight Night 6. Nate Marquardt was victorious over Crafton Wallace on 10/10/2006 at “Ortiz Vs. Shamrock III” by submission.

Casey: Euan stole all of the Boogeyman jokes that I was going to make in the nickname contest. I’m not sure if Nate Marquardt can live up to his nickname of being great. I remember being really impressed with Lister when I saw him at UFC 60 and if I remember that much than it must mean something.
Winner: Dean Lister

Art: Marquardt via submission R3
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Ric: This one, like the first bout, is in danger of becoming a boring stalemate, but that aside, I'm going with Marquardt.
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Euan: Oh, when did "The Boogeyman" go to UFC? I wonder if worms are allowed in the Octagon? Anyway, both men are coming off victories in their last fights so
a good show here could earn them a place on a PPV in the near future. Marquart has the obvious experience advantage over Lister but come on, anyone who
can make red smoke come out of a stick deserves respect right? No. Marquardt to win.
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Scott: Marquardt seems to have more experience but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I’m going to pick him anyway because really, why not?
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Wade: Nate has a great win/loss record and is a well rounded wrestler so he should be a shoe in to win.
Winner: Nate Marquardt

Marcus: Dean “The Boogeyman” Lister
Winner: Dean Lister

Lightweight Bout:
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=290
Hermes Franca (5:6, 155, 17-5-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=389
Spencer “The King” Fisher (5:7, 154.5, 20-2-0)

Last UFC Bout: Hermes Franca defeated Jamie Varner via submission on 08/26/2006 at UFC 62. Spencer Fisher defeated Dan Lauzon at UFC 64 on 10/14/2006 by a first round TKO.

Casey: Now we’re talking. I love Spencer Fisher for being an honest man and saying that his wrestling sucked after his most recent victory. That means Sean Sherk would probably kill him but Hermes Franca isn’t Sean Sherk. I’m real excited to see this bout. Franca has no nickname but his first name is Hermes which does have to count for something. I’m surprised Euan didn’t make any Jerry Lawler jokes as they were right there, but don’t worry Fisher will fight again. This should be a fun fight and I have a feeling that the King will reign supreme. As an aside, we have the Boogeyman and the King on the same show are we sure this isn’t Smackdown?
Winner: Spencer Fisher

Art: Fisher via TKO R2
Winner: Spencer Fisher

Ric: Boy, oh, boy, this should be interesting! I keep flip-flopping on this, but think I'm gonna go with Franca.
Winner: Hermes Franca

Euan: I like both fighters in this case and i cannot decide on a winner so i will ask someone who has the insight, intelligence and clarity to help. "DOMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HARDU GEI~!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Of course, it's Razor Ramon HG! So HG, help me pick a winner.
"Say, say, say King Fisher FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!" Well that's it, Spencer Fisher to win.
Winner - Spencer Fisher

Scott: Spencer Fisher will win because Razor Ramon HG said so.
Winner: Spencer Fisher

Wade: Hermes seems to be the more well rounded fighter so I'm going with him.
Winner: Hermes Franca

Marcus: Spencer “The King” Fisher
Winner: Spencer Fisher

Heavyweight Bout:
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=469
Jake “Irish” O’Brien (6:3, 234.5 9-0-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=515
Heath “The Texas Crazy Horse” Herring (6:4, 250, 26-11-1)

Last UFC Bout: On 11/18/2006 at UFC 65, Jake O’Brien defeated Josh Schockman by Unanimous decision. This will be Heath Herring’s UFC debut.

Casey: Heath Herring wins the nickname battle in a walk away and I’m sure I don’t need to explain why. Also, my suggestion for O’Brien is to plant a big kiss on Herring during pre-fight instructions because really I think that’s his best chance of walking away the victor assuming that he’d actually be able to walk. I heard Heath Herring on Between the Ropes and he’s just awesome so how can I not pick him?
Winner: Heath Herring

Art: Herring via TKO R1
Winner: Heath Herring

Ric: Two words - Herring will win, and win big. (Ed. Note: I think that might be more than 2 words)
Winner: Heath Herring

Euan: The UFC debut of "The Texas Crazy Horse", i love Heath Herring. I have seen a lot of his fights from PRIDE FC and he is to be feared both on his feet and on the mat. Jake O'Brien is coming off a win at UFC 65 but this will not be enough to silence Herring.
Winner: Heath Herring

Scott: Heath Herring, did you not see the video? This should be more entertaining than a Tim Sylvia fight.
Winner: Heath Herring

Wade: Based on the clip I saw of Heath blasting the man who kissed him, and the fact that he has such a high win/loss record,
I'm going with him.
Winner: Heath Herring

Marcus: Heath Herring
Winner: Heath Herring

Euan: "And now, from the beautiful Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. IT'S TIIMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE FOR OUR UFC MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING!" "PRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIDDE!"
Well, it appears that UFC and PRIDE are working together these days as now both Bruce Buffer and Crazy American PRIDE lady are announcing MMA shows.

Light Heavyweight Bout:
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=399
Rashad Evans (5:11, 205.5, 14-0-0)
Vs.
http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.detail&pid=513
Sean Salmon (5:10, 206 9-1-0)

Last UFC Bout: At UFC 63 on 09/23/2006, Rashad Evans knocked out Jason Lambert. This will be the UFC debut of Sean Salmon.

Casey: It is hard for me to pick a man making his UFC debut especially when he is fighting someone I enjoy watching like Rashad. I realize I get burned on this from time to time, see MacDonald, Jason but I don’t see this as being one of those times. On another note related to this show we have a Salmon a Herring and a Fisher and that has to mean something though I’m not sure what. The only thing missing from the fish theme is “the Muscle Shark”. Also neither man has a nickname which makes it really hard to pick a favorite in that particular battle. I’m going to go with Rashad because Euan’s pick just makes good sense in the physical universe.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Art: Evans via TKO R2
Winner: Rashad Evans

Ric: Good wrestler against good wrestler. It's said that Salmon can also throw hands, which we also know Evans is capable of. Salmon tends to rely more on jiu-jitsu than straight wrestling, but that didn't help Stephan Bonnar's cause when he faced Evans. Evans' combo of size and experience will, in my view, be too much for Salmon to handle.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Euan: This is an easy fight to predict as Rashad Evans is on a 4 match winning streak and Sean Salmon is...well according to his profile 0 years old so he does not exist therefore he has already lost the fight by not appearing.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Scott: As time passes, you will figure out that I tend to pick guys with more experience in the Octagon even if it does come back to bite me in the ass, see MacDonald, Jason at UFC Tito Vs. Ken III.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Wade: From what I've seen, takedowns can be hard to counter. Add in Rashad's takedown defense and I think he's got this one.
Winner: Rashad Evans

Marcus: Rashad Evans
Winner: Rashad Evans

Casey: The OCC will have live round-by-round coverage of this show and I’m looking forward to this more than to any other sports entertainment that may have in the past aired on Thursday, may presently air on Thursday and be preempted or may in the future air on Thursday.

CARE Preview: TNA Final Resolution 2007

For an expanded version click here.

Final Resolution

Casey: TNA starts off 2007 with a show with more stipulations than you can shake a stick at, but a show that has the potential to have some decent wrestling matches. So at least there is that. I’d also like to warn you that I do a lot of editorial comments on behalf of my cohorts, as I’m practicing my mind-reading techniques. I'll even give you a free bonus prediction, VKM will appear and I will hate it.

Ric: For those of you who know how "well" I fare at predicting the outcomes of WWE, UFC and/or PRIDE FC cards, you ain't seen nothing yet! At least I regularly
follow (and, in some cases, even enjoy) the offerings of those products.
Well, to quote (or close enough) The Iron Sheik, I'm not gonna beat around the bush.
I'm pretty sure Casey won't let me get away with repeatedly typing, "Who cares?,” (Editor’s notes: 1. That’s right, mother fucker, and 2. I’ll laugh if Ric does better on these TNA picks than anyone) so here's what I've decided on:

Euan: Oh goody! Another TNA PPV, what wonders await us this month and more importantly...who is buying this? These predictions will be short and most likely
offensive as i am not feeling too great at the moment.

Casey: Lets look at the standings so far. As this is the first TNA event of the year, nobody has any stats to speak of for this category.

The overall standings look like this.
Casey: 1 event, 4 Correct predictions, 3 Incorrect predictions for 57%
Ric: 1 Event, 2 correct Predictions, 5 incorrect predictions for 28.5%
Art: 1 Event, 1 Correct Prediction, 5 Incorrect Predictions, for 16.6%
Euan: 1 event, 0 correct Predictions, 6 Incorrect Predictions, for 0%

Pre-Show Match: Lance Hoyt Vs. Chase Stevens

Casey: Chase Stevens is essentially a singles wrestler now with the Naturals being no more. This means he’s also pretty much a jobber…still.
Winner: Lance Hoyt

Art: For a guy who seems to get a push from time to time, Hoyt sure gets a lot of dark match PPV spots, hope for his sake he gets the win
Winner: Lance Hoyt

Ric: Lance Hoyt over Chase Stevens
Winner: Lance Hoyt

Euan: Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..WHO THE FUCK CARES!
Winner - Who cares! After Casey threatened to castrate me with a dull plastic spoon if I didn’t make a pick so as to not screw up his precious fucking spreadsheet, I have decided that Lance Hoyt will be wrestling under the name of who cares.

Petey Williams Vs. Cowboy James Storm

Casey: The questions are, who will Gail Kim side with in the Storm/Harris feud. I’ll answer that one for you, it will appear as if she is going to side with Storm, but she’ll swerve him and end up with Harris because swerves = ratings even on Pay Per View. But then, in a double swerve she will swerve Chris Harris and end up with me. The other question is how long before both former members of AMW are lost in the shuffle as singles wrestlers? I don’t know the answer to that one perhaps its already happened. In this match, I see the standard Harris interferes and gets Williams the victory.
Winner: Petey Williams

Art: has potential to be a decent match, Harris distracts/interferes, Petey hits the Canadian Destroyer and gets the pin
Winner: Petey Williams

Ric: Editor’s Note, Ric only gives results but I’m sure he’d like to remind you all that the Sheikies are coming to a website near you on 01/21/2007!
Winner: James Storm

Euan: Editor’s Note, Euan’s prediction was quick and to the point something that is impossible for me to be.
Winner: Petey Williams

PCS Finals: Austin Aries Vs. Alex Shelley
10 minute time-limit if no winner is determined, it goes to the judges.

Casey: This is so obvious I shouldn’t even feel compelled to explain this. There wouldn’t be judges if they weren’t going to come in to play, this being wrestling and not MMA. So it goes the time-limit. I think it would be funny if one of the judges went the Clash of Champions I route and declared it a draw. I’m guessing that the judges pick Austin Starr to further the jealousy of Alex Shelley.
Winner: Austin Starr via Judges decision

Art: The gimmick behind this match, despite the amusing PCS skits is just plain goofy. But if given time these two should have a great match, one of the MOTN candidates, I would go with Starr on this one.
Winner: Austin Starr

Ric: Editor’s Note, seriously, the Sheiky awards coming for the first time ever, next week. Trust us, these will be awesome. There may be a time limit on this match but there will be no limit to your enjoyment of the Sheikies.
Winner: Austin Starr

Euan: This will go to the 10 minute time limit and the judges will choose Austin Starr over Shelley to begin the Starr/Shelley feud.
Winner - Austin Starr

Last Man Standing: AJ Styles Vs. Rhino

Casey: Rhino has been on quite the losing streak lately when it comes to Pay Per View matches. He hasn’t won a Pay Per View match outright since June’s Slammiversary. Unfortunately for Rhino, I don’t think that trend is going to reverse itself this month. There is so much more that can be gained from having AJ Styles win. I’d better just stop before I convince myself that’s why Rhino’s a guaranteed winner.
Winner: AJ Styles

Art: another fun match on paper, I'd like to see Rhino win this one by brutally kicking Styles' ass, it'd make sense to me anyway
Winner: Rhino

Ric: Editor’s Note, hey did you know that the Sheikies are coming next week? Well, Ric thought you’d like to be reminded. I’m sure that’s what he was thinking the whole time he was writing this preview.
Winner: AJ Styles

Euan: Editor’s Note, again Euan only offers a winner but I’m sure if he were feeling ok, he’d probably predict right now, Rhino by Senshi kicking Chris Sabin in the face. It wouldn’t have made sense but I would’ve laughed anyway.
Winner: Rhino

NWA World X-Division Championship: Christopher Daniels Vs. Jerry Lynn Vs. Chris Sabin

Casey: The feel good story is Lynn pinning Sabin to win the title. He avenges his real foe in this feud, plus it means Jerry Lynn is back wrestling regularly again which if the rumors of an eventual Angle/Lynn match is true is pretty much a given. Then they could still go the direction of Lynn and Daniels or this being TNA they could forget about it by Monday.
Winner: Jerry Lynn

Art: another MOTN candidate, should be lots of killer action, some WTF spots and some damn good wrestling, I'd like to see Daniels retain, if Sabin wins it AGAIN it won't be a disappointment at all.
Winner: Christopher Daniels

Ric: Editor’s Note, Ric picked Jerry Lynn to win this contest. Find out who he picks for awards like “Worse than Hulk Hogan”, and “I navaire raspact a gay, I navaire raspact a fag” when the Sheikies are unveiled on 1/21.
Winner: Jerry Lynn

Euan: Editor’s Note, even though Euan only wrote down the winner for this contest, I can tell that it would be at this point that he decided to plug the Sheiky awards coming to a website near you on 1/21/07!
Winner: Christopher Daniels

NWA World Tag Team Championship: Latin American Xchange Vs. Team 3D

Casey: It’s a team I love facing a team I pretty well don’t love. Eventually 3D will win the belts so that they can make the bogus claim of winning the ECW, WCW, WWE and NWA titles and being the only team to do so. I don’t count the WCW title reigns because they won them in the WWF. This feud has been pretty basic so far with LAX taking out Runt and 3D taking out Konnan in response. Its harder to keep track of what is happening within the members of Team 3D with Runt and Ray arguing a few weeks ago but like most of TNA and all of ECW I don’t care about that part. As I said eventually Team 3D wins the titles, but they waited too long for the crowd to pop huge like they did when they thought 3D won the titles at last year’s Final Resolution. So 3D eventually wins, but now is not the time. Also I’m real eager to see Hernandez and Brother Ray interact with the stiffness and the beatings and the hey hey hey it hurts me.
Winners: Latin American Xchange

Art: haven't folllowed the build-up for this one, would like to see LAX
retain but I have a feeling 3D could get the belts
Winners: Latin American Xchange (Editor’s Note: I’m assuming that Art would prefer his feeling about 3D to be wrong and thus I presume he’s picking LAX, if I’m wrong he will rightly correct me)

Ric: Editor’s Note, in order to get you hyped for the Sheikies we will announce that one of the categories involves a lesbian sex tape. I’d like to see the Observer awards top that.
Winners: Team 3D

Euan: Editor’s Note, Again as Euan is a man of few words today, if he were feeling well I think he would’ve said that while Team 3D was in Hustle they did not learn anything from Razor Ramon HG. This in spite of the fact that HG repeatedly tried to rub off on them. Ok, so maybe Euan wouldn’t have said it quite that way but Razor Ramon HG would’ve found his way in this preview somewhere.
Winner: LAX to retain

NWA World Heavyweight Championship: Abyss Vs. Christian Cage Vs. Sting
This match will be held under elimination rules.

Casey: I’ll give TNA this much. This feud has added some intrigue to Abyss’ character for the first time in perhaps ever. Christian and Tomko are useless in this feud though as it could’ve worked just as well with Sting playing off of Mitchell and no third wheels. As for how I see this match playing out, I see Christian being eliminated first. Then James Mitchell will cheat and cost Sting the contest, but Abyss won’t like the cheating and will turn on Mitchell. This turns Abyss face without him losing the title. I’d much rather Christian win the belt and feud with either Joe or Angle next but that doesn’t aid the story any.
Winner: Abyss

Art: Tomko banned from ringside is bad news for Cage, I can see the title (sorry) going to Sting, I don't want Abyss retaining, Cage could possibly win the title but frankly I don't think the title means a thing on any of these three.
Winner: Sting (Editor’s Note: just my guessing, as a “I could see” seems more definite than an “I don’t want” or a “could possibly”. Again if I’m wrong, I’ll be corrected in due time.)

Ric: Editor’s Note, As you’ll see Christian was Ric’s pick. Will Ric give Christian a sheiky? Tune in to Nitro to find out, or better yet, read the Sheikies next Sunday on this and other fine websites.
Winner: Christian Cage

Euan: Editor’s Note, yeah same thing just a winner. But, I’d like to think I know Euan enough that at this point he’d bring up his hatred for Sting. He would probably also call for Anderson Silva to come out and knee all of these guys in the face followed by Sheiky coming out to humble the rest of what remains Old Country Style. I think he would’ve said all of this, and I hope he gets better soon so he can say it, not me (Editor’s note, me = Casey) because he is significantly better at it than I.
Winner: Abyss...don't care.

30:00 Iron Man Match: Kurt Angle Vs. Samoa Joe

Casey: So this is the third match in the series of what could be about 800 by the time we’re done with it. This is a rematch of what was supposed to be the last match ever, last month. Have I mentioned how much I love TNA? I haven’t, well now you understand why. Actually, if you watch iMPACT regularly, you understand why.
As for the match itself, I don’t like Iron Man matches as a rule because in the first match it took 13 minutes for Angle to make Joe tap and in this it could happen like 7 minutes in. The only way this works is if you use a super-move not seen in a regular match. I hope they go the route of AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels from Bound for Glory a couple of years ago and have 1 fall decide it very late. As for who gets the fall, I would personally go with Samoa Joe. Its shit or get off the pot with Joe at this point to use an old and appetite reducing expression. Plus, it can push Angle closer to being a heel with this driving him nuts. Perhaps, he can lay out Joe afterward and have Lynn come out and confront him segwaying into Lynn’s respect feud which should not be confused with Sheiky’s navaire raspact feud. This might be wishful thinking on my part, but hey pretty much everything else in this roundtable and this company for that matter is wishful thinking on my part so…
Winner: Samoa Joe – 1 fall to 0

Art: We got this one already in 2007 but I guess we can make the best of it, especially since it has potential to be a great match. I'm going with Joe on this one.
Winner: Samoa Joe

Ric: Editor’s Note, as this is the CARE preview Ric would like you to know that he cares more about the Sheikies next week than he does this particular show. Once again, Sheiky awards coming next week.
Winner: Kurt Angle, though something tells me I should pick a draw

Euan: "And now from the beautiful Mandalay Bay Events Center"...once again you manage to excel yourself and prove that you are indeed brain dead. Go and party
with Crazy Pride Announcer and leave me alone.
Another month, another Angle/Joe match. Seriously, only TNA could fuck up such a money making feud like this. 3 matches in 3 months, Vince Russo is slowly
but surely killing TNA and turning it into WCW mach 2. Now that i have that rant out of the way, let's get on with the prediction. Samoa Joe to HUMBLE
Kurk Angel.
Winner: Samoa Joe

Casey: The OCC will be pleased to try a new experiment with this pay per view. You will have not 1 but 2 sources of live coverage. The Old Country Give and Taker will have live play-by-play, while I have more of my usual insanity. So you’re getting 2 recaps for the price of none, so no bitching!

Ric: Editor’s Note, Ric hopes I’m covering the PPV because he’ll be too busy filling out his Sheiky awards ballot. I’m not sure when and where the Sheikies will be posted but perhaps there are clues hidden somewhere in this preview?
