April 2, 2007

To the victors go the spoils! This is the theme of a special recap episode of BodogFight: St. Petersburg airing Tuesday, April 3 at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION Television.

Something was bound to give with 28 deadly mixed martial arts fighters - 14 Americans and 14 Internationals - converging on the imperial capital of Russia to lay claim to global bragging rights. Now the smoke has cleared, revealing which of these men and women have earned the right to return to St. Petersburg to fight at a historic pay-per-view event, BodogFight: Fedor Emelianenko vs Matt Lindland 'Clash of the Nations' on April 14.

After a punishing exchange of big kicks and strikes, Russian Red Devil Roman Zentsov proved too much for Kristof Midoux of France. The TKO victory catapults Zentsov onto the PPV's main card where he will face California's Bobby Southworth.

Heavyweights Jarno Nurminen of Finland and Sang Su Lee of Korea went at it for three full rounds with Nurminen awarded the decision victory. He moves on to fight Idaho's Josh 'Buffalohead' Curran on the PPV undercard after the colorful Curran won a three-round decision over Nevada's Roy 'Big Country' Nelson.

Two of the sport's toughest women took to the MMA mat, with Amanda Buckner of Massachusetts getting Indiana's Julie Kedzie in a guillotine and forcing her to submit. However, Kedzie will still represent Team USA against Russia's Julia Berezikova on the undercard, while Buckner will appear on the main PPV card against Hitomi Akano, who used an armbar to beat fellow Japanese fighter Tama Chan.

Dmitri Samoliov fights Arizona's Ray Steinbeiss on the PPV undercard after the Russian came back to earn a draw against Canadian Tyler 'TNT' Jackson.

Ray's brother, Steve 'The Hooligan' Steinbeiss will meet Canada's Bill 'The Butcher' Mahood in a light heavyweight bout on the PPV undercard. Steinbeiss pummeled Jeff 'Big Deisel' Ford into submission, while Mahood scored a first-round TKO over Khalil 'Scorpion Heart' Ibrahim of the United Arab Emirates.

Brazil's Rodrigo Damm will represent Team World after submitting Canada's Black Mamba. Damm would have fought grappler-turned-striker Mike Brown of Florida in a lightweight bout on the PPV undercard, however, an injury means Brown will make way for Santino Defranco of Arizona.

The fighters have done their part now it's time for viewers to decide who will earn a cool $50,000. Viewers who tune in BodogFight: St. Petersburg on ION Television this Tuesday, April 3 at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central can vote for their own "BodogFight Champ", with the winning fighter pocketing $50,000. Plus, one lucky voter will win an exclusive BodogFight prize package worth over $10,000!

Voting is open from April 3 - 8, 2007 and the "BodogFight Champ" will be announced, April 9. Visit the award-winning web site www.BodogFight.com for details and stay tuned, because coming April 17th, 2007 BodogFight returns to Costa Rica for a whole new season!
