Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling News 2/8: Gowen Title Match Confirmed, Final Card for Sunday

By Joe Dombrowski

Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling News: February 8, 2007

ZACH GOWEN FINALLY GRANTED TITLE SHOT: TAKES PLACE THIS SUNDAY!

For several weeks now, CAPW Newsline and television broadcasts on Sports Time Ohio have followed the ongoing saga between Junior Heavyweight Titleholder Johnny Gargano and the “Tenacious” Zach Gowen. Gowen has been in line for an opportunity at the Jr. Title ever since his entrance into Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling, and especially since pinning Gargano as part of a six-man tag this past December. However, Gargano, clearly fearing the One-Legged Wonder and seeing him as a major threat to his title reign, has put every potential obstacle possible in between Gowen and his rightful title shot. From placing his partner-in-crime Josh Prohibition in between himself and Gowen, to repeatedly attempting to sign championship matches against individuals not even on the CAPW regular roster at this time, Gargano has done it all. However, it seems Gargano can dodge the issue no more. After extended meetings with CAPW management a little over a week ago, we can confirm Zach Gowen was GRANTED his opportunity at the CAPW Jr. Heavyweight Championship and it will take place THIS SUNDAY as part of CAPW’s next major live event and television taping at Turner’s Hall. It’s an opportunity months in the making for Zach Gowen, and based on Gargano’s recent stalling tactics, Gowen best make the most of it, who knows if or when he’d ever get another opportunity at Johnny Gargano.

CARD FINALIZED FOR LIVE EVENT THIS SUNDAY!

Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling returns to the famed Turner’s Hall, located at 7325 Guthrie Ave. in Cleveland, on Sunday afternoon February 11. Doors open at 2 p.m. for our recently-altered belltime of 3 p.m. This WILL be a taping for CAPW TV on Sports Time Ohio, so bring your signs, banners, and enthusiasm, and be prepared to have your image available in nearly 3 million homes in the state of Ohio, and nationwide on select systems. Tickets are available in advance at any of our ticket outlets, and also at the door the afternoon of the event. Get ready for three solid hours of the best professional wrestling in the area: Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling.

In addition to the huge Johnny Gargano vs. Zach Gowen Jr. Heavyweight Title Match we just touched on above, we can now exclusively confirm the following matches being added to our Feb. 11 spectacular:

Shiima Xion vs. Adam Cage
Adam Cage is recognized as one of the greatest CAPW Heavyweight Champions in the near fifteen-year history of the organization. After an extended subbatical that lasted through the second half of 2006, Cage is back in CAPW and back on the road to glory and gold. Meanwhile, “The Future of Fashion” Shiima Xion is making his return to CAPW after an over one-year absence. The man who likes to be referred to as the First Filipino Male Supermodel of wrestling, was originally scheduled to challenge Johnny Gargano for the Jr. Title until management intervened on the Zach Gowen controversy. Will there be any backlash from Xion regarding the Jr. Title Match change, or will Adam Cage prove to be more problems than he can handle on a given night?

Aftermath & Matthew Justice vs. Marion Fontaine & Shawn Blaze
“Mega Star” Marion Fontaine and “Simply Sexy” Shawn Blaze love to be referred to collectively as “Mega Sexy”. And when they aren’t busy admiring themselves or each other, they’re extremely effective as a tag team. Mega Sexy hopes to begin the slow ascension up the tag ranks of CAPW as they take on two of Cleveland’s young lions: Matthew Justice, as well as a man who’s no stranger to high-pressure tag team situations: The Aftermath. Four of CAPW’s most promising developing talents get their opportunity to shine this Sunday!

All this in addition to the stellar card already announced:

Handicap Match: Greg “The Hammer” Valentine/Jason Bane vs. Tracy Smothers/JT Lightning/Gypsy Joe
Tracy Smothers retained his title by defeating Jason Bane, but he needed plenty of help to do so, including his frequent partner-in-crime JT Lightning, as well as the man recognized by WWE Magazine this month as the world’s oldest wrestler: 73-year-old Gypsy Joe, one of the most legendary brawlers from the south. Knowing he couldn’t get to Smothers without the other two being involved as well, Bane proposed a tag team match. And the man Bane chose as his partner: WWE Hall of Famer and former Intercontinental and World Tag Team Champion Greg “The Hammer’ Valentine. Five of the toughest and craftiest men anywhere in the world will be in the ring at one time coming up Sunday Feb. 11, and with Krystal Frost expected to be back in the mix, who knows what could unfold.

Chris Cronus vs. Chris Pavone
This match of two powerhouses both touted as the future of the industry was supposed to take place at our January live event, but an unfortunate ankle injury to the former OVW Champion Pavone kept him out of the squared-circle for the time being, but certainly could not keep him from running his mouth. Now, with anticipation even more heightened, irresistible force will meet immovable object in the ring on February 11, as Cronus vs. Pavone has been signed. Cronus is determined to impress Krystal Frost, who’s been on a mission attempting to add to her stable in recent weeks, while Pavone hope to rise to the top of CAPW much the same way he rose to the top of the WWE’s developmental territory, and Pavone doesn’t care who he ticks off along the way.

CAPW Tag Team Titles: Faith In Nothing vs. Irish Airborne
CAPW’s tag team division is wilder and more tumultuous than ever. With both Irish Airborne and Q&A laying claim to the top contender spots, both teams were deemed worthy of challenging for the titles, with a coin flip enabling the Airborne to challenge first. While a frustrated Q&A watch from the sidelines, Faith in Nothing hope to eliminate one of their top contenders en route to establishing tag team dominance and proving themselves the most skilled and dominant tag team to ever emerge in Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling.

M-Dogg 20 vs. Nobutaka Moribe
“The Innovator of Aerial Insanity” M-Dogg 20 returns to Turner’s Hall right back into Junior Heavyweight competition. The world-famous M-Dogg will go one-on-one with another man of international flavor, Nobutaka Moribe, famed grappler from the DDT and Michinoku Pro organizations based in Japan. Moribe is in the States for an extended tour and would love to make his stop in Cleveland a successful one. Moribe grew up idolizing, and has adapted his style largely after the late great Eddie Guerrero and utilizes several of Guerrero’s signature maneuvers in his arsenal. How will this match up with the unpredictability of M-Dogg 20?

Women’s Triple Threat Match: Lorelei Lee vs. Jessica Havok vs. Lexi Lane
The lovely ladies return to CAPW after a several-month absence to bring you among the most hard-hitting athletic women’s professional wrestling action around. Lorelei Lee established herself as a huge crowd favorite throughout 2006, and is certainly looking forward to a return, but this time they’ll be two hurdles for her to overcome. Noted grapplers Jessica Havok and Lexi Lane would love to become the pre-eminent female grappler in Cleveland and go right through Lee to do so. Something special is always in store when the women of CAPW step into the ring.

All this and so much more takes place THIS SUNDAY as part of 3 solid hours of CAPW action. Tickets WILL be available at the door, so don’t miss out, be a part of Cleveland All-Pro Wrestling live!
