The fate of this blog...

By Art Shimko
shimko_7@hotmail.com

-- I have not been updating this blog as I've been posting pro wrestling/mixed martial arts updates at Old Country Times for the last week or so.

Casey Trowbridge, the man who runs Old Country Times, asked me sometime ago about doing work with his site involving more than the occasional contribution to his blog. The issue was once again brought up recently, coincidentally at a time when I was figuring out what to do with this site.

I enjoy writing about both sports and am learning more about them each day but spending hours on a daily basis updating this site without any compensation or feedback has just made me discouraged to continue this site.

Working on Casey's site would be a different story as he has a few people doing different jobs for his site, TV reviews, news updates, PPV reports, etc. which is something I should've considered when launching this and my previous site, so in other words it won't only be me updating a site all the time.

I do have kind folks sending in columns, news reports, live/PPV/TV reviews which are always appreciated but doing daily site updates can be a total pain in the ass after a while.

So I'm not sure what will become of this particular blog, I don't really want to delete it but at the same time this blog won't be updated often if at all. I could make this a music news blog but then that's more work and plus there are a million music news blogs out there so who knows what will happen.

If you've frequented this blog or even read just one post I thank you and appreciate it. As of this moment please focus your attention to the Old Country Times blog for any current activity involving myself.

Also, if you are a current contributor to Strong Style Shimko your posts and work will now be posted at oldcountrycorner.blogspot.com.

Thanks again,
Art Shimko

Explanation for my absence lately...

By Art Shimko

-- Nothing major folks, just decided to take a break from this site. I do not have any intentions of deleting this blog, just had to step away from the computer for a bit. I apologize to my contributors for not posting your columns in a timely fashion, everything from the past week that you sent in has been posted here. I'll be back on a regular basis soon, in the meantime the site will be updated with outside contributions.

SITE UPDATE: Strong Style Shimko Podcast testing

-- So the last two nights I've been doing test runs on a podcast for the site, still rough around the edges but I'd like to maybe post an "official debut" by week's end. If I have (or make) time for two episodes a week I'd like to do a wrestling/mixed martial arts podcast and a music news podcast. We'll see how it goes.

The Sheikies are Coming!

By Old Country Nomad

Ladies and Gentleman, boys and girls! We here at the Old Country Corner are happy to announce the creation of the finest awards since the Slammys...THE SHEIKIES!

These awards were created in respect to a great, great man whose opinions have been controversial at times but always enlightening...The Iron Sheik and each award title will be a quote that from the man himself. Also this is the only end year awards that are actually decided after the year is over. Innovation, that's what we are all about here.

With categories such as The "You Vas Lucky Punk" award for the most improved wrestler or fighter and The "Great Feeling All Time I Had All My Life" award for the best match of 2006.

The rest of the categories will be revealed as well as the winners on January 21st. The awards will be voted on by fine people like myself, Casey, Ric and Art and maybe a few others.

HAPPY NEW YEAR~!

Best wishes in 2007 to you and your loved ones...
