Floyd Mayweather talks shit about MMA, Liddell

By Art Shimko
shimko_7@hotmail.com

Jesus H. Christ, raggin' on MMA lately is the In Thing~! as the kids like to say, take Floyd Mayweather for instance from an article on The Sweet Science:

“UFC ain’t shit,” he said. “It ain’t but a fad. Anyone can put a tattoo on their head and get in a street fight.” He singled out UFC poster boy Chuck Liddell for an extra overhand right. “We should put Liddell against a good heavyweight, under Mayweather Promotions, and if Chuck wins, then I’ll give him a million dollars out of my own pocket.” PBF then shoe-shined all MMA fighters. “These are guys who couldn’t make it in boxing,” he said. “So they do (MMA). Boxing is the best sport in the world and it’s here to stay.”

Someone been watching old wrestling tapes for promos?? Another jack-off talking tough, and I'm not denying Mayweather's a tough fighter but c'mon, he sounds like a total hack here. Stick to shit-talking De La Hoya you fuckin' tomato can...

What if IFL is the next WWE? If it is, it is worth less than Mr. Market apparently thinks it's worth now. -- Colorful Pro Wrestler 'Bam Bam' Bigelow Found Dead

-- He was a celebrity with a name all wrestling fans knew

-- Superstars reflect on Bam Bam

-- WWE released more talent from its roster between Thursday and Friday including Tatanka, Greg Groothius (Jack Bull), Steven Adkins (Seth Skyfire), and Ryan Reeves (all three were development talent training at OVW). The company has signed former TNA wrestler Cassidy Riley (who wrestled Monty Brown/Marquis Cor Von on ECW Tuesday) and ROH wrestler Ace Steel to developmental deals.

-- I recommend everyone check out this New York Times article: Expert Ties Ex-Player’s Suicide to Brain Damage. Dave Meltzer mentioned it in his Thursday update and the NYT article very educational and scary, it mainly discusses NFL football players and how concussions can effect their mental and physical states in the long run focusing on the suicide of Andre Waters and the condition of his brain from numerous concussions in his career. The pro wrestling/MMA connection here, besides the effects of concussions can have on wrestlers, fighters and boxers, is that former WWE wrestler and Harvard grad Chris Nowinski has done lots of research connecting concussions to depression and drastic results leading to premature deterioration of a person's brain. Another point brought up is the fact that many football players, and this seems to be the nature and attitude with athletes in general, would shake off a concussion and not tell their coaches or rest and not get back in action so soon.

Tyson arrested early Friday AM in Arizona

By Art Shimko
shimko_7@hotmail.com

-- Early Friday morning boxer Mike Tyson was arrested after leaving a nightclub and almost colliding with a sheriff's car in Scottsdale, Arizona for allegedly of driving under the influence as well as possession of cocaine; Tyson

Tyson was released without bond later Friday on a felony drug possession charge after appearing at Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix. There wasn't any alcohol found in his system and until toxicology tests come back he won't be charged with DUI or drug charges just yet.

According to Sgt. Larry Hall who was at the scene at 1:45AM Friday stated, "He showed signs of impairment and voluntarily submitted to field sobriety tests." Tyson was also spotted brushing a white powder from his console which triggered probable cause for the police to search his car.The probable cause statement revealed that two bags of coke were found in Tyson's back pocket, he then admitted to police he was an addict and had a drug problem.

"The irony is he did a great job with these kids _ stay away from drugs, don't drink, stay out of trouble," said Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County.
